Crystal Dynamics reveals that the Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch story DLC for Rise of the Tomb Raider will be available next week on the Xbox One.

Those who enjoyed Rise of the Tomb Raider will soon have a reason to boot the game up yet again, as the release date for its first story-based DLC expansion has been announced. Fans of Rise of the Tomb Raider can look forward to downloading Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch for the game exactly a week from now, on January 26th.

Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch for Rise of the Tomb Raider will equip Lara with a new outfit and a new bow, as well as give her a brand new adventure to experience. It will expand upon the story of the main campaign, featuring new characters, new areas, and an "ancient and mythic evil" to boot.

Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch will reportedly take "hours" to complete, and should be a fairly significant addition to the base game. It may even be enough to entice those that weren't swayed by the Endurance Mode DLC to take the plunge on Rise of the Tomb Raider's season pass, but if not, the expansion can still be purchased separately. Individual pricing for Baba Yaga has not yet been revealed, however.

It's also unclear at this point if Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch will be available on platforms besides the Xbox One. The release date announcement included no mention of the Xbox 360 version of the game, let alone anything about the PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider, itself set to launch just two days after the expansion drops next Tuesday.

With the impending release of the Baba Yaga DLC for Rise of the Tomb Raider, two of the three expansions planned will have been released. The third and final expansion, Cold Darkness Awakened, doesn't have a release date or window just yet, but it seems reasonable to expect it within the next couple of months. It remains to be seen if more content will be produced for Rise of the Tomb Raider beyond these three DLC packs, but with the game's PS4 release not until next holiday season, it's a distinct possibility.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is available now for Xbox 360 and Xbox One, with a PC release planned for January 28th. A PlayStation 4 version of the game is scheduled to release by the end of 2016.
