Resident Evil Revelations 2 Delay

The first episode of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 might be right around the corner, but today Capcom pushed its release back ever so slightly. Now, instead of February 17th the first piece of the four-episode collection will launch on February 24th, and the remaining episodes will slide back by a week each.

Capcom says that the decision to push Resident Evil: Revelations 2 stems from a neeed to polish and optimize gameplay for their upcoming current-gen and last-gen release. It’s unclear how much work the developer could get done in a single week, but perhaps the game is so close that the extra few days will suffice.

Originally released as a 3DS-exclusive title, the first Resident Evil: Revelations was a surprise hit that featured the return of some fan-favorite characters. It also found a happy medium between action-heavy sequences and subdued survival horror portions, which is something the franchise had struggled with as of late.

As a result, anticipation for Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is relatively high, especially since the game is launching on nearly every major platform. There’s no need to wait for a re-release this time.

There will still be some waiting, though, as Capcom plans to stretch the experience out over four episodes beginning on (now) February 24th (February 25 worldwide), followed by March 4th, March 11th, and March 18th. By then, gamers will have a solid idea as to how this new adventure factors into the larger Resident Evil universe. Heck, maybe the game will even provide clues towards Resident Evil 7.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 Release Date Rumor

Speaking of that adventure, we don’t know much but Revelations 2 does feature the return of Claire Redfield, one of Resident Evil’s primary protagonists. This time around Claire will be teaming up with Moira Burton as they try to uncover the secrets behind an anti-bioterrorism organization called Terra Save.

After a year filled with delays, many of which were longer than 6 months, we’re sure that Resident Evil fans will be able to stomach an extra week of waiting for Revelations 2’s release. It’s better to get the delay out of the way before the episodes start releasing rather then have to wait longer in between them. We all know how agonizing waits between The Walking Dead episodes can get.

Are you looking forward to the first episode of Revelations 2? Does a one-week delay seem long enough to make any appreciable improvements?

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 releases Episode 1 on February 24, 2015 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
