Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City Screenshots

New information and pretty screenshots for the new non-horror oriented Resident Evil game, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City have been made available from Capcom. These latest images aim to shed some more light on what to expect from the game’s co-operative zombie slaying experience.

Operation Raccoon City, developed by Slant Six Games (various SOCOM titles) is a team-oriented shooter taking place during the timeline of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. The setting will allow players to revisit several locations familiar to anyone who has played previous game sin the RE series. Gameplay will be either standalone or up to four-player co-op, with each player assuming a member of Umbrella’s Security Service who are tasked with eliminating any evidence of Umbrella’s involvement in the release of the T-Virus in Raccoon City.

Capcom promises players will be able to re-write the history of Resident Evil, but likely not on an official canon basis (for obvious reasons) and rather an entertaining alternate universe where the good guys didn’t quite win. After all, killing Leon Kennedy would definitely affect the entirety of Resident Evil 4.

During the game, players will have to deal with the threat of zombies, Bio Organic Weapons, as well as the US Government’s own soldiers during their mission to purge the city. Players must contend with each group and each will be a threat to one another, as revealed in the previously released Operation Raccoon City details.

In addition to the new information, check out the gallery with several screenshots depicting the action to be expected and the characters to be controlled.

Taking a zombie shield doesn’t seem like it would be the most ideal meat shield, considering they could probably still bite you and their flesh may not be too effective at blocking bullets. Whether or not that will be taken into account during the game has not yet been confirmed. Old Resident Evil monster favorite, the Hunter, is also shown as both a threat to both zombies and the player alike. There is also a new, grim looking big villain players will have to fight.

Interestingly enough, each of the different Umbrella members seem to embody different classes in the game. For example, the shotgun toting agent seems to be more armored than the others and has access to mines. The hooded agent however, who prefers knives over guns, might have the ability to cloak, which always comes in handy when having to escape hordes of zombies or gunfire from soldiers.

With Operation Raccoon City being a dedicated action game and outside of the real continuity of the story, will that affect your desire to play it?
