One of my favorite games of 2009 finally releases its “Gold Edition” for consumers. Resident Evil 5 brings the fancy back to box covers with this version of RE5. After the jump will be spoilers, so if you haven’t played RE5 yet (and you should), beware.
The content of this version is made evident on the box itself, which makes it very easy for me to tell you what to expect in this version: The Spencer Mansion mission entitled “Lost in Nightmares” in which Chris and Jill encounter Wesker and some new enemies (that are sure to go down with a well placed shotgun blast or 19). “Desperate Escape” features a side mission during the original campaign where Jill and Josh escape to the chopper for a very important role in the story.
“The Mercenaries Reunion” mode features new costumes for Chris, Jill, Sheva, and Wesker. 4 new costumes are available for Chris and Sheva in the single player and Versus mode. And last, and not least, some new figures to collect in-game.
Will you be picking up the Golden version of RE5?
Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition is slated for release on March 9, 2010 on Xbox 360 and PS3.

One of the most re-playable games ever.
Ask Game Rant writer Zac, I was in a fury to get every achievement in this game. I need to get one more still…
What the diffence between this and the Resident Evil 5 Alternative Edition ?
The Alternative Edition was the name of the DLC pack coming out sooner than the actual Gold Edition. The content is the same, but I guess Capcom felt they should have spiced up the name a little bit. Considering the actual box is in a gold hue, I say they did a decent enough job.
@ Rob
I platinumed RE5 within two weeks of its release. Spent a lot of time farming the licker hallway for lion hearts. What achievement are you still missing?
Really, for all its awkward controls and terrible end-boss, RE5 was a pretty great experience.
Can't wait for the new episodes, though with Heavy Rain and BioShock 2 arriving about the same time, it may be a little while before I get to these.
Oh man, I have multiples of EVERY gem in the game and everything unlocked. I need to beat the last few on the hardest skill, getting the highest rating on them to get the last achievement.
It was a little dumb that I had to play every chapter on every skill (including the easier skills) to get them all. I think if I beat it on normal/hard, by default I should get it for the easy skill levels.
I need to get a copy of this game used now that it's been out for a while. Or I'll just pick up this Gold Edition since I didn't try out the DLC.
