Resident Evil 2 has been an incredible success for Capcom, with the game currently holding the distinction of being the highest-rated game of 2019 so far. Now fans are looking ahead to the next game in the Resident Evil franchise, with most of the rumors pointing to a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Nothing official has been announced yet, but it seems Capcom itself has started teasing the game on Twitter.

While it's possible fans are misinterpreting some of Capcom's recent tweets, they do seem to be subtle nods to Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, and may very well be an indication that the rumored RE3 remake is in development. The first potential tease came on April 15 in the form of a screenshot of the Resident Evil remake, showing Jill Valentine standing in a corner.

The caption for the photo reads, "Ever feel like somebody's watching you...?" While this could be a reference to the fact that the fixed camera in this particular screenshot is coming from underneath a table, some fans have taken it as a nod to how Jill Valentine was relentlessly pursued throughout Raccoon City by the titular Nemesis monster.

The second tweet is a little more compelling. Originally posted on Twitter on April 16, it shows Claire Redfield in the Resident Evil 2 remake standing in front of a destroyed wall. The caption with this photo asks fans what they think happened to the wall there, as opposed to attributing it to the Mr. X tyrant.

Since Capcom isn't saying that Mr. X made this particular hole in the wall, and there aren't really any other Resident Evil 2 monsters that could've done it, many have taken it as a hint that Nemesis could have been the culprit. The replies to the photo on Twitter are full of people suggesting Nemesis made the hole in the wall, and more than a few clearly believe the photo is a straight-up Resident Evil 3 remake tease.

Whether or not Capcom meant these tweets to be teases for the Resident Evil 3 remake or not is up for debate. However, if the rumored Resident Evil 3 release date of January 2020 is accurate, then perhaps the game will be officially announced at E3 2019 in June, and the rumors can be put to rest.

The Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
