Undead Nightmare, the first downloadable pack to add a new single player component to Red Dead Redemption will be fast upon us sooner than we think, kind of like a zombie attack. After seeing the first trailer for the add-0n, we should be well aware of the departure the game is taking in order to deliver some thrills and chills. New screenshots from the game have been released just to whet your appetite even further.

The team at Rockstar certainly knows what they are doing with this DLC pack. After such a fantastic single player experience (I implore you who have yet to complete it to do so), they knew that gamers would be itching to jump back in the saddle as John Marston. With each successive DLC pack, whether it was the 'Liars and Cheats' or the 'Legends and Killers' packs, it only reminded gamers that what they really wanted was a single player expansion.

Zombies have become so engrained in the public’s mind that it is almost an inevitability to add a little bit of the undead to any property to “spice it up". Taking a traditionally straightforward game and adding zombies is nothing new, as the Zombie Mode in Call of Duty has shown, but whenever zombies are added to a game it can be either hit or miss. With a game that already has rewarded players with some free DLC that provide even more reason to jump back into the game, it seems only fitting that they get a little treat to make their experience more enjoyable. On top of that, don’t worry about Undead Nightmare interfering with your single player progression, as it will load from the main menu as its own game.

No release date has been announced for the Undead Nightmare Pack but I would expect it to be no later than Halloween, considering the obvious connections. If I were a betting man I might even say to expect the game add-on sooner than that to allow the DLC to build up marketing steam before the holiday.

Any thoughts on these new screens for Undead Nightmare? What zombie animal are most looking forward to killing and skinning?

Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare Pack will release soon for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
