Red Dead Redemption 2 is an incredibly detailed game. One of the reasons that Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most highly rated games of all time is the level of attention that developer Rockstar Games put into every aspect of the western adventure, be it the wide-open terrain or the intricacy of the leather on the bootstraps. However, one fan has pointed out that there is a rather silly oversight that is still in the game that apparently has been a part of the experience since day one.

A Reddit user noticed that there was an error with a pocket watch in the game that is somewhat comical; even as the developer put so much time into making the game very specific and detailed. One of the Roman numerals that helps tell the time is incorrect. Rockstar's cowboy action-adventure is such a gorgeous and detailed game that even a video can go viral of a player simply eating stew while walking slowly around the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. But with this pocket watch, something is missing.

Reddit user u/youenjoymyself just uploaded an image on r/reddeadredemption of a pocket watch and what they call 'the worst oversight' in the game. While some commentators are quick to rebuttal on that idea with some of their own flaws with Red Dead Redemption 2--like the overly aggressive police--the pocket watch error in Red Dead Redemption 2 is quite silly once it becomes apparent. All of the numbers are lined up correctly and each Roman numeral is represented the way it should be, except for the number eight. VIII is the Roman numeral for eight, however, on the watch, it is written out as XIII.

This is quite the silly mistake by Rockstar, as not only is eight incorrect (as it should be VIII), but XIII actually means thirteen, so the watch is doubly wrong. Red Dead Redemption 2 has been out for three years now, and while this problem certainly should not be on the top of the list of things to be patched, one would think that it would be addressed at some point.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has breathtaking locations and is an incredibly meticulous game. While it is not surprising for a title that is so open and vast to have bugs, it can be a bit of a shock for there to be errors in the fine print from time to time, especially when the game was under development for so long. In the end, this pocket watch error is more comical than anything.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
