One of the most impressive achievements in terms of Red Dead Redemption 2 is the degree of dynamism within its open world. With many NPCs given in-game schedules, realistically going to sleep, working, taking breaks, then going out for drinks in the evening, the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is so detailed to the point where, for many players, it feels like a living, breathing world. In fact, players will often encounter nature-based occurences within the environment.

A large part of what makes the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 so engaging is its emphasis on realism. Players will often experience events outside of their influence, which falls in line with what an open world game should strive to accomplish. For instance, one player manage to capture an image of a hawk carrying a snake in Red Dead Redemption 2. Now, one player has managed to capture a truly impossible sight.

A Reddit user named Caterpill420 took a screenshot during a thunderstorm, where a bolt of lightning struck the top of the church in Saint Denis. Thunderstorms are very infrequent within Red Dead Redemption 2 and can occur when the player is least expecting it. Not only is the likelihood of this actually occuring extremely slim, but the fact that someone was there to there to capture this image in-game is incredibly lucky.

It's amazing to see just how intense of a technical leap was made from Red Dead Redemption 1 to the second installment. The first entry in the series, although very ambient and atmospheric in terms of its environments, lacked any of the dynamic weather mechanics seen throughout Red Dead Redemption 2. Thus, moments like the one Caterpill420 just captured in Red Dead Redemption 2 would never occur in the same way.

Despite releasing over three years ago, Red Dead Redemption 2 has managed to maintain its popularity and relevancy within the gaming community. The fact that fans are still celebrating the game all these years later via fan-art, cosplay, and mods is truly impressive. One user even managed to revive Undead Nightmare and put it in Red Dead Redemption 2 as a mod.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Red Dead Redemption 2 going forward. While the bulk of new Red Dead Redemption content has recently come in the form of Red Dead Online, many fans are speculating a remaster of the original Red Dead Redemption. Although, these rumors have yet to be officially confirmed by Rockstar Games.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
