Despite many players giving up on their dreams for an Undead Nightmare expansion in Red Dead Redemption 2, one player has kept their hopes alive via an incredible piece of artwork. The well-made drawing of the Red Dead Redemption 2 protagonist became wildly popular on Reddit, sparking yet another discussion around what the DLC could look like.

While many Red Dead fans took to reddit to muse over not getting Undead Nightmare 2 this year, one redditor named Notmrbjorn was hard at work on a gorgeous Arthur piece that they later posted on the r/reddeadredemption subreddit. Zombie Arthur sees part of the character's skull and jaw exposed, as well as completely white eyes. As pointed out by commenters, this version of Arthur must have received the dishonorable ending due to the large bullet hole in the character’s head. These are hardly the only neat details, however, as Notmrbjorn gave Arthur some gnarly peeled-off skin as well.

While voice actor Roger Clark recently had the chance to reflect on his performance as Arthur, he sadly did not get to discuss this incredible artwork or a possible Undead Nightmare 2. Posted for Halloween, the zombified Arthur Morgan is incredibly well-designed by Notmrbjorn and would fit perfectly within the expansion if it were to ever come. With Rockstar seemingly not budging, however, it seems unlikely that the single player DLC fans are requesting ever sees the light of day.

With Rockstar’s disappointing Halloween event for RDR 2 compared to GTA Online, and fans voicing their anger regarding the lack of meaningful content, the community surrounding this art post with love seems like the latest attempt at players showing Rockstar how much they want Undead Nightmare to return. Even if it came in the form of a purely online expansion, fans would likely be happier with anything resembling the classic DLC than the buggy zombie mode they received for Halloween.

One commenter on the gory, skeletal Arthur fan art post even suggested what the story behind the DLC could be. Per L0rak0, playing “as Jack Marston all grown up to beat Arthur” in a final boss fight could make for a great story beat. Jack Marston, who was recently given a dark Red Dead 2 backstory through a fan theory, would certainly be interesting to see as an adult once again. His relationship with his Uncle Arthur is undeniably strong, as is John Marston’s closeness with his pal. Even Sadie Adler would be an excellent protagonist for Undead Nightmare 2, giving Rockstar a large selection of zombie killers to choose from.

Regardless of whether the unlikely DLC ever comes to fruition, some fans are perfectly content with playing the game as is. For one 65-year-old Red Dead player with 30 game completions, the highly requested Undead Nightmare 2 seems completely unnecessary — despite most fans being eager for the dream content to finally come.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
