In the last few years, pre-order bonuses have become an integral part in the promotion of triple-A game releases. Usually, we are offered a choice between a couple of items depending on where we drop our cash. But for the upcoming western epic Red Dead: Redemption, Rockstar Games are taking things to the next level by making gamers choose between a whopping 8 pre-order bonuses, ranging from in-game costumes and items to store gift vouchers. Decisions, decisions.

The full list of pre-order bonuses is as follows:

  • Amazon - The Golden Guns Pack + $10 Amazon gift card:

The player who wields the exclusive Golden Guns receives more Fame for each kill. The more Fame you get, the more in-game side missions become available. So there will be more opportunities to duel, more kidnapped townsfolk to rescue and you can bribe lawmen for less.

  • BestBuy/HMV - The War Horse:

There are countless horses to be found in the massive world of Red Dead Redemption, but none is stronger, faster or tougher than the exclusive War Horse. Whether storming gang hideouts, exploring the wilderness for hidden treasure, or outrunning the law, the War Horse gives gunslingers an advantage in nearly every situation.

  • Game UK - Deadly Assassin Outfit:

John Marston's "Deadly Assassin" outfit causes your Dead Eye meter to regenerate at twice the speed. With more Dead Eye, you have more time to place each shot with total accuracy, making you the deadliest gunslinger in any fight.

  • GameStop - Red Dead Referendum:

Vote for which unlockable in-game outfit for John Marston you think is the best: The Savvy Merchant, The Deadly Assassin, or The Expert Hunter. When you pre-order, you'll receive the top vote-getting outfit and special gameplay advantages. Visit www.gamestop.com/reddead to vote for the outfit of your choice.

  • Game Crazy/Zavvi - Exclusive Mini Guide by Brady Games
  • Rockstar Warehouse - Official Red Dead Game Tee
  • Target - $5 Gift Card
  • Walmart - $10 Gift Card

So there you have it - 8 pre-order bonuses all fighting for your precious money. Personally, I'm not a fan of being made to choose a specific retailer to gain access extra items for a game. When I purchase something I would like to have every available item and not feel as though I'm missing out on content.

Will you be pre-ordering a copy of Red Dead Redemption? If so, which pre-order bonus do you think is best? What do you think of multiple pre-order incentives?

Red Dead: Redemption is due to ride into town on April 27th for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3.
