Rayman Legends

Last year the gaming community was pleasantly surprised to see the return of everyone's favorite limbless hero in his first starring role in years - Rayman Origins. After releasing to plenty of fanfare, Ubisoft is bringing the strange animal back once again in Rayman Legends.

Rayman Legends has a very similar aesthetic style to the previous title, with plenty of vibrant colors and hyper-expressive characters. Ubisoft is promising a very similar experience to Origins, but with a multitude of new modes, environments, characters, and a new soundtrack to mirror the medieval and musical themes of some of the new levels.

One entirely new feature Legends will be implementing is a unique control scheme for the Wii U GamePad. Also, along with many of the currently announced Wii U titles, Rayman Legends will be playable on the GamePad even when the television is off. Ubisoft had the following to say about how the GamePad will be used to change the way players interact with Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies:

"Legends uses the innovative Wii U Gamepad to explore fresh multiplayer gameplay experiences and expand beyond the traditional platform games. Players use the Wii U GamePad to discover new ways to navigate through the game with touch—based gameplay to take out enemies or clear paths and gyroscope technology to manipulate and rotate platforms. The GamePad also allows you to continue the adventure of Rayman and his friends on the controller screen even while the television is off."

Legends will also allow players to jump online in order to compete with friends in a variety of challenges said to test both speed and skill. Scores and times will be posted on worldwide leaderboards so that gamers can see where they rank.

Overall, Rayman Legends appears to be a bigger and better version of its predecessor. Not only will it have more content than Origins, but its Wii U functionality could make Legends a completely new experience for gamers playing on the next-gen console.

Although there is not currently a release date for Rayman Legends, it was confirmed to be a Wii U launch title. No other consoles have been announced.
