Remember the good old days of Nintendo 64 when Rare and Nintendo had a glorious relationship? We saw classic games like Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini, and Conker's Bad Fur Day come through that relationship, and we were all quite content with those. Then the day came that Rare and Nintendo parted ways and we were left with little but a remake of Conker's Bad Fur Day and Grabbed by the Ghoulies to keep us satisfied for an entire console generation.

Rare has never really been the same since they went to Microsoft, but the odd thing is that Microsoft still allows the developer to make games for Nintendo's immensely popular handheld. We've seen a remake of Diddy Kong Racing and we've also seen the Microsoft owned series Viva Pinata hit the DS, so now that the 3DS is in the hands of devs you have to wonder if we'll see any more Rare games on the handheld. It's certainly a possibility if a recent post on Rare's official blog is accurate.

Q: I have 2 Qeustions 1. Are you going to make another Banjo-Kazooie title fore de DS like you made Banjo-Kazooie Grunty’s Revenge?? 2. Cane you make a Banjo-Kazooie Remake on the DS??

Robin Schuurman

A: Banjo-3DSie confirmed! Although by confirmed I do mean 100% utterly speculative. We haven’t done much in the handheld ’space’ since DKR DS and Pocket Paradise — could we dip our toes in again at some point? Possibly. 3DS? Not for me to say. Bandai WonderSwan? No.

It seems that Robin Shuurman may not consider English as their primary language, but other than that he or she posed a very good question. We have been wondering what games we'd see on the 3DS for quite some time and "Banjo-3DSie" would certainly be a great motivator for people to pick up the new (and expensive) tech. Hopefully Microsoft will allow Rare to bring some of their classic franchises back to a Nintendo console, because they would no doubt sell well with the hardcore and softcore (casual) crowds.

Hopefully Rare will be able to give us something on the 3DS, but at this point fans would more than happily settle for a new Conker's Bad Fur Day or a Banjo-Threeie on the 360. Please, Rare... it's all we really want.

What Rare games would you like to see grace the 3DS? How do you think a Rare 3DS game would turn out?
