  1. I was lucky enough to play A Link to the Past when it was first released (yeah, I’m THAT old). The rain at the beginning of the game was a f***ing gamechanger. Most Gamers these days do not realize what a huge deal that was. We had NEVER seen anything like it before. To this day it still stands as one of the most defining moments in gaming history. It still gives me chills thinking about it. Absolutely beautiful and absolutely brilliant. I don’t think there will ever again be a more “blow your mind” gaming experience then that was. Brilliant.

    • I think all of us who remember were very lucky to have been able to experience that moment. A Link to the Past is still one of the best video games I have ever played.

      • Those damn dogs in Resident Evil, the death of Aerith, Argo falling(wipes away tears), the rain in A Link to the Past. On and on. I can still remember exactly where I was when those moments occurred. Those memories will always be with me. That is why I love being a Gamer. :)

        • Me too! Some of the best memories I have are gaming related.

        • yup, you are correct about the rain in Link to the Past and the others. Can I add seeing Dragon’s Lair in the arcade, just about everything in Super Mario Bro. 3 (I spent an entire summer leaching off friends on my uncle’s couch playing that game), eating Hamlet in Illusion of Gaia, seeing Donkey Kong Country for the first time in a Software etc. demo unit, the stereo sound in Starfox, Kraid in Super Metroid, and playing NHLPA 93 on the Genesis.

          • Haha. Aw, poor Hamlet.

    • Truth

    • I agree.

  2. Pretty original article! I love rain in video games. The giant crazy thunderstorms in Red Dead Redemption are great.

    • Thanks! I was attempting to think outside the box.

  3. Living for Final Fantasy IX! Thanks to you, I’ll be playing that tonight.

  4. seriously who decided everything had to be depressing and make you want to die
