Microsoft announces a new pair of Xbox One bundles, one that is Rainbow Six themed and another that allows consumers to choose between four different Xbox games.

One of Microsoft's primary strategies this past holiday season was releasing a slew of Xbox One bundles to entice consumers. These bundles packed Xbox One systems in with some of the system's biggest games of last year, though despite these efforts, the PS4 was still the best-selling console of November. Nevertheless, Microsoft is sticking to its guns and moving forward with even more bundles, as two more have been announced for release this month.

First off, there's the Rainbow Six Xbox One bundle. This bundle comes with a 1TB Xbox One, along with a copy of Rainbow Six Siege and both Rainbow Six Vegas games. The latter, of course, are playable on the system thanks to Xbox One backward compatibility with Xbox 360. This bundle will retail for $400.

The second bundle announced by Microsoft today is called the "Name Your Game" bundle. It's a little cheaper than the Rainbow Six bundle, coming in at $350, but this is because it comes with a smaller 500GB hard drive and only one game. However, players are at least able to have a choice between four different digital versions of Xbox One games released last year, in the form of Forza Motorsport 6Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Rare Replay, and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Overall, the "Name Your Game" bundle seems a little unnecessary in the grand scheme of things, unless some of the other Xbox One bundles are going out of stock. After all, there is a bundle that combines Gears of WarRare Replay, and Ori and the Blind Forest together with a 1TB system for a mere $399. For just $50 more, it makes much more sense to spring for that bundle than the "Name Your Name" bundle that offers significantly less value.

In any case, consumers that decide to go with the "Name Your Game" bundle should probably consider picking up Forza Motorsport 6 or Rise of the Tomb Raider to get the most value out of the pack-in deal. Both Gears of War and Rare Replay are available at discounted prices when sold separately, whereas Forza 6 and Rise of the Tomb Raider still retail for $60 at most stores.

Microsoft definitely seems dedicated to pushing the Xbox One with bundles, though it is unclear if this strategy is paying off. While we're still waiting to see December's NPD sales results, the fact is that the Xbox One was outsold by the PS4 in November. However, the Xbox One was the best-selling console of October 2015, a victory that coincided with the launch of Halo 5: Guardians, so it seems as though exclusives sell consoles, not bundles.

These two new Xbox One bundles will both debut by the end of the month in most regions.
