This morning Nintendo and Game Freak shared the latest video footage of Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. The Pokemon Presents presentation dedicated a majority of its time to the two upcoming main series Pokemon titles, revealing new gameplay details regarding the upcoming RPGs. Just a few new Pokemon were revealed during the show, however. The list of new Pokemon includes the first Regional Form for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Introducing Paldean Wooper, already jokingly being referred to by Pokemon fans as "Pooper."Like past Regional Forms in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Pokemon Sword and Shield, and Pokemon Sun and Moon, Paldean Wooper is similar to the original version but with some extra flair. In Paldean Wooper's case, instead of being a Water/Ground-type Pokemon, they're Poison/Ground-type. This is explained as the Paldean form of Wooper living on land instead of in water, where it uses a poisonous film to protect itself.RELATED: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Confirm Region Name, 3 New Pokemon, and MorePaldean Wooper is otherwise very similar to his original counterpart. Visually, Paldean Wooper is brown, and has differently-shaped antennae, but otherwise has the same large mouth and small eyes. Paldean Wooper will also have the Water Absorb ability, much like the original. Instead of Damp, however, it will have Poison Point befitting its new Poison typing.

There's currently no official word regarding whether Wooper's evolution will also have a Paldean form. Quagsire maintains Wooper's typing as a Water/Ground-type Pokemon. It wouldn't be a surprise at all if a Paldean Quagsire was also included in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet with a Poison/Ground type. It should be noted, however, that the rumor is Paldean Wooper evolves into an entirely different Pokemon and not Quagsire. That's yet to be confirmed, however.

For those unfamiliar, Paldea is the region in which Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will take place. That was another of the announcements made in today's Pokemon Presents presentation. It was previously known that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's setting would be based on Spain, but it took until now to confirm the in-universe name for the region is Paldea. It was also confirmed that Paldea will be an open-world experience, so Pokemon trainers can visit the corners of Paldea as they please.

It should be noted that Paldean Wooper is explicitly stated to be a Regional Form Pokemon. It's not one of the long-rumored Convergent Species/Regional Fakes, which are re-named Pokemon with small visual changes and new typings. Expect plenty more news on other new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Pokemon, whether they be Regional Forms, Convergent Species, or entirely original, in the months to come.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet release November 18 on Nintendo Switch.
