The land of Paldea stretches far and wide in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. As soon as players are given the freedom to travel "anywhere," they'll realize just how large the open-world is. While much of the mileage can be bypassed by Flying Taxi's and fast travel, there is still quite a bit of unexplored and untamed wilderness that players will need to explore on foot. Unfortunately, running around everywhere can be pretty taxing, especially when exploring every nook and cranny of what Paldea offers.

To remedy this, developers give players access to Koraidon (Scarlet) or Miraidon (Violet) depending on what title they own. These special Legendary Pokemon can turn into vehicles of sorts, and move quite a bit faster. Players who don't want to run everywhere will want to ride Koraidon or Miraidon as soon as possible. Here's a look at when and how players will unlock Koraidon or Miraidon as a mount in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

How To Ride Koraidon Or Miraidon

Once players begin the game, they will have to embark on a prologue of sorts. This includes picking their starter Pokemon and then making their way toward a lighthouse near their home. Once near the path up to the lighthouse, a cutscene will trigger and force the newbie trainers to head to a nearby cliffside to see about a mysterious sound. From there, players will meet their version's Legendary Pokemon and then follow it through a cave. Once this particular section is over, Nemona will set players on the path to the Pokemon Academy.

From there, players simply need to continue until they eventually reach the nearby city and then continue through the area and the appropriate cutscenes until they reach the school itself. Once inside, players will need to continue progressing the story until they are eventually led to their Dorm Room by Nemona. There, she will point out a bed that players can sleep in to get some rest, and doing so will cause a cutscene to play which will eventually end in players waking up to a special announcement from the Academy Director. Leaving the Dorm Room and heading to the Schoolyard will prompt another cutscene and after that, players are "free to go where they wish."

Once this happens (and after players watch a small scene with Arven and Nemona) they will automatically be shown how to mount their respective Legendary Pokemon. Once this happens, players are free to call out and ride Koraidon or Miraidon by simply pressing the Start (+) button at any time. Pressing Start (+) again will cause trainers to dismount.
