Since its launch, Pokemon GO has become a worldwide sensation. Just this month Giovanni was added to Pokemon GO as the major villain, along with a Legendary shadow Pokemon.
But before Pokemon GO players can face Giovanni, they must first face three mini-boss leaders. One of these mini-bosses is Sierra, who has proven quite challenging for some Pokemon GO players. Below is a list of the Pokemon Sierra will deploy, and the best Pokemon to counter her along with their corresponding Fast and Charge moves.
Battling Sneasel
In Pokemon GO, the battle against Team Rocket is a long one. Sierra will always first deploy Sneasel, who uses Dark and Ice type fast and charge moves. The weakness? Fighting Pokemon. Pokemon GO players should utilize Lucario (Counter, Power Up Punch), Blaziken (Counter, Blaze Kick), Poliwrath (Mud Shot, Power Up Punch), and Scizor (Bullet Punch, X Scissor) to best Sneasel.
Next Up: Hypno, Lapras, or Sableye
If Sierra deploys Hypno, the priority for fighting it should be Psychic resistance by using Dark, Psychic, and Steel counters. The recommended Pokemon for this are Darkrai (Snarl, Dark Pulse), Metagross (Bullet Punch, Meteor Mash), Tyranitar (Bite, Crunch), or Mewtwo (Psycho Cut, Shadow Ball).
Sierra's other choice will be Sableye, who is weak to Fairy attacks. Typically using Dark types is the safest approach against it. The recommended counters are Darkrai (Snarl, Dark Pulse), Hydreigon (Dragon Breath, Dark Pulse), Tyranitar (Bite, Crunch), or Togekiss (Charm, Ancient Power).
If Sierra uses Lapras, the priority is to resist the fast move and shield against the charge move. The recommended counters are Dialga (Dragon Breath, Draco Meteor), Lucario (Counter, Power Up Punch), Melmetal (Thunder Shock, Rock Slide), or Regice (Lock On, Focus Blast).
Round Three: Houndoom, Alakazam, or Gardevoir
Houndoom is weak against Water, Fighting, Rock and Ground, and should be exploited for victory. Pokemon GO players should utilize Swampert (Mud Shot, Hydro Cannon), Poliwrath (Mud Shot, Power Up Punch), Machamp (Counter, Cross Chop), or Tyranitar (Smack Down, Stone Edge) to bring Houndoom down.
If Sierra chooses Alakazam, the key to victory is resisting the Fast move. The recommended Pokemon to counter him are Darkrai (Snarl, Dark Pulse), Hydreigon (Dragon Breath, Dark Pulse), Tyranitar (Bite, Crunch), and Metagross (Bullet Punch, Meteor Mash).
If the above two Pokemon are not chosen, then Sierra will have deployed Gardevoir. Strong steel types are best utilized against Gardevoir as they resist most of its moves. The strongest counters to Gardevoir are Metagross (Bullet Punch, Meteor Mash), Melmetal (Thunder Shock, Flash Cannon), and Dialga (Iron Head, Flash Cannon).
