The 2020 Spring Event in Pokémon GO has sprung for players in the Northern Hemisphere. This event includes exclusive field research tasks and rewards for players looking to catch them all.

As Easter approaches, the Pokémon GO Spring Event is subtly based around the holiday with the field research tasks themed around hatching eggs, the spawn rates of pokémon such as Exeggcute and Chansey going up, and a hat variant of the rabbit Pokémon, Buneary, being released.

With all of the research tasks revolving around eggs, all eggs that are dropped from Pokestops are only 2km eggs. However, with the recent changes to the game due to the Coronavirus, eggs hatch twice as fast, so players can quickly hatch them.

Field Research Tasks and Rewards

  • Hatch an Egg - Flower Hat Eevee (CP 424 - 459)
  • Hatch 2 Eggs - Azumarill (CP 637 - 680)
  • Hatch 3 Eggs - Alolan Exeggutor (CP 1233 - 1292)
  • Hatch 4 Eggs - Chansey (CP 490 - 537)
  • Hatch 5 Eggs - Audino (CP 676 - 721)

Bonuses and Features

During this event, any egg that's hatched will net players twice the amount of candy. Lucky eggs will also last one hour instead of half an hour. Additionally, all eggs received via gifts will be 2km eggs.

There are also four more pokémon with flower hat variants, being:

  • Pikachu (As seen in the above picture)
  • Buneary
  • Pichu
  • Togepi

All pokémon with these flower hats are unable to evolve. The easiest way to obtain the flower hat Pichu and Togepi is through hatching eggs, as those two are guaranteed to have their costume if hatched during the event. These are all the pokémon that can be hatched via the 2km eggs during the event.

  • Pichu
  • Togepi
  • Tyrouge
  • Chingling
  • Happiny
  • Munchlaz
  • Riolu

For players who are looking for a shiny version of any of these pokémon, now is the chance to keep hatching until a shiny pops out. While hatching eggs doesn't make getting a shiny any more likely, the event narrows the pool down for getting these specific pokémon.

Pokémon GO's 2020 Spring Event lasts from April 9th to April 16th at 10 PM local time. While this event offers valuable rewards and cosmetics, players should remain cautious. Players also aren't advised to leave their homes if their country is under a homestay order, as Pokémon GO isn't worth getting charges for.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
