Pokemon GO is one of the biggest mobile games of all time, and now it will be crossing over with one of the biggest anime/manga series of all time. It's been announced that Pokemon GO will be having a crossover event with none other than the long-running, pirate-themed anime One Piece later this month, giving fans a limited time to get some exclusive content.

From July 22 to July 29, Pokemon GO players have the chance to catch a special Pikachu in the wild that will be wearing Monkey D. Luffy's signature straw hat. Not only that, but Pokemon GO players will be able to get a special One Piece-style straw hat for their Pokemon trainer avatar as well.

Meanwhile, Pokemon GO players that live in Kumamoto, Japan will have an extra bonus to look forward to once this Pokemon GO/One Piece collaboration goes live. A statue of Monkey D. Luffy will be in Kumamoto that features exclusive artwork by One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda, and will function as a special, limited-time PokeStop.

For those wondering why Pokemon GO is doing a crossover event with One Piece, it's all being done for a good cause. Last year, an earthquake hit Kumamoto, and so the Pokemon GO/One Piece crossover is being held to support the city and and help it rebuild.

The Pokemon GO/One Piece collaboration isn't the first crossover event that's been in Niantic's popular augmented reality game. Just a couple of months ago, Pokemon GO had a crossover with Detective Pikachu to help promote the film. This too included a special, limited-time Pikachu, this time in the form of a Pikachu wearing a detective hat. However, whereas detective hat Pikachu could only be found using the snapshot feature, it seems as though straw hat Pikachu will simply appear in the wild.

Meanwhile, the Pokemon GO/One Piece collaboration isn't the only special event that fans have to look forward to this month. In fact, Pokemon GO players currently have the chance to fight Armored Mewtwo in raids and add the rare legendary Pokemon to their collection. Armored Mewtwo is leaving Pokemon GO on July 31, though, so fans that want one will need to act fast.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
