Zorua, the Tricky Fox Pokemon, returns to Pokemon GO during Part 2 of the Halloween Event. This comes after the first attempt at a surprise release for the new Dark-type Pokemon Zorua led to some massive bugs with the Pokemon and the rollout was canceled.
During the Shuppet Spotlight hour in Pokemon GO Part 1 of the Halloween event, Niantic surprise launched Zorua, the Tricky Fox Pokemon, and its evolution Zoroark. Unfortunately, the way that the launch was implemented did not go to plan. What Niantic wanted to do was have Zorua mimic the trainer's buddy Pokemon in the game. However, when Zorua was caught, it retained the CP, moves, and height of the Pokemon it mimicked. With the re-release of Zorua, Niantic has now fixed that issue.
Zorua is now officially a part of the Pokemon spawning during Part 2 of the Pokemon GO Halloween event. The player will not need to have their out on the map while adventuring with them to find their Zorua. One or more of the mimicked Buddy Pokemon will spawn on the map and transforms after the catch as a Ditto would. Zorua will need 50 candies to evolve into Zoroark. Zorua's is now officially a part of the Pokemon spawning during the Pokemon GO Halloween event, along with Zubat, Haunter, Spinarak, Murkrow, Misdreavus, Shuppet, Dusclops, Yamask, Golurk, and Phantump. Piplup, Pikachu, Pumpkaboo, and Vulpix, all wearing costumes, complete the list.
Zorua's inclusion in Part 2 of the Halloween event offers a pleasant shake-up to help the two parts stand out from each other. Otherwise, many of the Field Research tasks, Timed Research, and Candy bonuses remain the same. Trainers needing their buddy Pokemon out to find Zorua get one of the event perks of finding XL Candy for that Pokemon that can go towards leveling it far past the trainer's level cap. Though the shiny isn't available, the hunt for a Zorua with good IVs and enough candy to evolve it to Zoroark becomes the new goal for trainers trying to complete their Pokemon GO Pokedex.
The Zorua release fiasco was the latest of a string of hiccups for Niantic's most high-profile AR Mobile game. Before this, Pokemon GO had an issue where the new Elite Raid featuring Hoopa Unbound locked out gyms from becoming Litwick raids after the Litwick Community Day. Pokemon GO players often had complaints about the prices of in-game items and if they were worth the money. With the game getting into a busy window with its event, players are hoping for no more issues, at least for the rest of the year.
