As long as there have been games, there have been fans to make art of them. As fate would have it, a number of longtime fans of various properties happen to be incredibly talented artists, which has lead to a number of impressive displays that both honor the reflected franchise and spark interest in fans that currently have a wad of cash burning a hole in their pockets.

One series that's always had heaps of fan art is Pokemon, and some super fans have just taken it a step further by creating something that's sure to turn heads.

Etsy user PokeMasterCrafter has recently taken to the art-centric site to sell some crystal Pokeballs that the individual and their their cohorts have pieced together. The balls in question are made to look identical to the in-game spheres that hold a trainer's beasts, albeit much ritzier looking. Each glitzy ball is made of high-grade K9 crystal, and features an 3D laser engraving of one of the original 151 Pokemon.

This particular item also includes a lit base which lends color to the laser-made monster, and the end result is sure to strike a chord with fans of the Pocket Monster franchise. Further more, each orb is 80 millimetres in diameter, which roughly equates to the size of the average baseball, so it'll make for quite the spectacle on any fan's shelf or mantle.

As of this writing, these limited collectibles are currently sold out, but the makers of these awesome Pokemon ornaments claim that there will be more ready to roll as soon as possible. Each orb will run collectors anywhere from $70 to $80 USD (and shipping is only in the United States at this point in time), but they are rather neat nonetheless.

While fan art is certainly more than welcomed, Pokemon fans haven't had all that much to go on this year outside of the recently announced Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, which will be arriving on the Nintendo 3DS this year. Still, with core entries in the series currently not scheduled to arrive at any point in the known future, it's hard to say when fans will be able to set off on yet another adventure to become the world's greatest Pokemon Master.

In the meantime, however, the fan base will keep itself entertained until Nintendo and The Pokemon Company are ready to announced a new game – these nifty crystal Pokeballs are proof of that. With all of that in mind, stay tuned to Game Rant for more news on anything and everything Pokemon.
