As time continues its eternal march forward, the North American release of Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 draws ever closer. To follow up the recent announcement regarding the release dates for Pokemon Dream Radar and Pokedex 3D Pro, Nintendo has released a trailer highlighting all of the new features awaiting gamers in the first ever pair of franchise sequels.

There's plenty of newfangled assets within Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, and the trailer did a swell job of highlighting a few of the games' latest additions. The biggest change will be to the Unova region itself, as half of it has been completely frozen over — presumably by the legendary Kyurem. It's once again up to another mute hero to go on an epic journey to put a stop to the madness, and liberate Unova from a resurrected Team Plasma.

The teaser does what it's intended to do — tease — and the prospect of new locales alone almost makes it worth the price of admission... almost. If new areas aren't your flight of fancy , then the newfound ability to challenge old school gym leaders from past games just may. Misty is the sole Kanto gym leader that appears in the trailer, but she'll be joined by Brock, Giovanni, and Blue (just to name a few) in Black 2 and White 2's Pokemon World Tournament mode.

A few minor story elements were briefly touched upon in the video. N has returned to confront Ghetis, who is now controlling Kyurem, which should make for a rather interesting turn of events considering the two were once allies. The original games left plenty of loose ends for these follow ups to tie into, so it'll be great to see how everything plays out.

You can catch 'em all in Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 when they tackle retailers this October 7th.
