Ever since Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 were first revealed, fans have been clamoring for details. It's been a long time coming, but now we finally have the first concrete info and screenshots for the pair of new Poke-sequels.

The details revealed give anxious trainers a taste of what they can expect from Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, and will help fill the small void until the first gameplay footage for the titles hits the Japanese television show Pokemon Smash this Saturday.

As the Japanese gaming magazine Corocoro has confirmed, there will be a number of substantial changes to the Unova region this time around. The game takes place two years after the events of the original Pokemon Black and White titles and new female and male protagonists will be available to choose from. They'll begin their journey in the new town of Hiougi City, found just South of Unova region. So, while there will definitely be some familiar locales, there will also be a bunch of new areas to explore.

Hiougi City will be ditching the small town aspect of past games as well, and will feature a Pokemon Center, a Trainer School, shops, and even an underwater tunnel to walk through. Some areas of the Unova region will remain unchanged after the two years we've been absent from the area, but there will be plenty of updates to the landscape as well. More specifically, Route 4 has been given a complete makeover and is said to look completely different than it did in the previous games. There will be more changes, but they've yet to be revealed.

These new rookie trainers assigned to you will be tasked with defeating a new rival, which should surprise nobody. The rival, currently named Rival, happens to be your alleged childhood friend; after the ability to pick the name of your rival was removed in Black and White, we're assuming that it'll be returning in Black 2 and White 2 — having a rival named Rival is just a little melodramatic. There's also a new Pokemon researcher, Akuroma, whose role in the upcoming games is still shrouded in mystery. He appears to be obsessed with Pokemon strength though, so he'll likely be filling the role of the villain after Team Plasma's demise.

Two new gym leaders have also been revealed, and their names are Homika (who uses poison Pokemon as her main type) and Shizui (a gym leader who specializes in water-type Pokemon). Homika will also be popping up in the Pokemon anime at some point in the future too, so gamers can get a better idea of what the character is all about roughly around the same time as the games will be releasing in North America.

Last, but not least, the Unova Pokedex will be a little different than the previous Black and White games. Pokemon from previous generations will be available right from the getgo. Psyduck, Riolu, Tyrannitar, Metagross, Lapras, and Arcanine can all be captured before defeating the Elite 4 this time around, much to the delight of fans who dislike the native Pokemon in the Unova region.

Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 are looking to be some of the best games the series has seen yet, and these details and screenshots are just the tip of the iceberg. There are still a lot of thing that fan want to know about B2 and W2, such as a North American release date, so stay tuned to Game Rant for more details on these games as soon as they become available.
