At this year's Tokyo Game Show, Sony promised that their recently expanded PlayStation Plus service would make its way to the Vita some time in November. And today we have a firm date for the PlayStation Plus Vita release: November 19th.

More importantly than the date, though, we have confirmation from Sony as to what free titles will be available during the first month of the paid service. Although we say that PlayStation Plus is a paid/premium service, gamers that are already members through their PS3 will not be asked for an additional fee, it is all tied together.

With that being said, let's get to the good stuff — the games. As part of the initial Vita rollout of PS Plus, gamers will be able to pick up Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, WipEout 2048, Jet Set Radio HD, Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!, and the PSP hit Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of Lions.

Like when Sony announced free PS Plus games during E3 2012, this initial offering is quite substantial, and may be enough to entice gamers into subscribing to PS Plus, or even picking up a Vita. Uncharted: Golden Abyss alone is around a $35 value, and Sony is offering it for free (with a subscription).

There's obviously the question of how much content per month Sony will be able to provide PS Plus users on the Vita in order to justify the $49.99-a-year or $17.99 three month plan, but nevertheless this first sampling is quite solid. You'd have to imagine the deeper Sony gets into the catalogue, though, the less and less enticing titles they will be able to dig up.

PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection

Nonetheless, we're happy to see Sony adopt the similar, go-for-broke attitude they demonstrated on the PS3 side by offering titles like inFAMOUS 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, and the first Borderlands. On the console side Sony has been able to keep the magic going, even if it's initial appeal has rubbed off a bit, but let's hope PS Plus subscribers on Vita will find enough content to justify their subscription.

In addition to the Instant Game Collection, a PS Plus membership for the Vita comes with a few other nifty features including an additional 1GB of cloud storage for game saves, and the very useful automatic update and Trophy sync feature. As well, PS Plus users will have access to special discounts on more recent Vita offerings like Day 1 digital downloads. Sony has yet to announce anything in that department, but we imagine more details will be unveiled when the service launches next week.

While the PS Plus service rolls out with the next Vita update on the 19th, the Instant Game Collection won't become available until the 20th, when the PlayStation Store updates.

Are there any Vita gamers out there considering subscribing to PlayStation Plus? What games are you most interested in trying out?
