The PlayStation 3 is set to have a stellar year of console exclusives, with Triple-A games like Uncharted 3, inFamous 2, Resistance 3, and more set to release in 2011. While that may seem like enough for some, Sony doesn't think so. They appear to be set on having the best year humanly possible, and what would the best year ever for PS3 gaming be if it didn't include a new Ape Escape? That's right, Ape Escape will finally make its long-awaited debut on the PlayStation 3, but it may not be quite the game that fans were expecting.

Ape Escape Fury! Fury! (as it was titled in Japan) has finally been given a North American release window, as well as a North American name. Gamers can now refer to the new game by its official name PlayStation Move Ape Escape, and can expect to finally get their hands on the title sometime this Summer when it is released on the PlayStation Network. The gameplay found in PlayStation Move Ape Escape is a little bit different, as some have already likely deduced after reading its name.

This edition of Ape Escape has bypassed the need for a Dual Shock 3 in favor of utilizing the system's newest control option, the PlayStation Move. PlayStation Move Ape Escape plays similarly to an on-rails shooter, but instead of using a gun players will be equipped with a tricked out butterfly net. Monkeys will charge at the screen, attempting to smack the player. The individual playing must try to catch every monkey he/she can before taking too much damage.

Each individual monkey that is captured gets its information stored in a "Monkeypedia" that can be viewed as often as players wish. There are over 500 different monkeys waiting to be captured in the game, which is a pretty impressive feat (that just happens to be reminiscent of Pokemon).

If capturing chimps doesn't sound compelling, there are also three wacky mini-games included in PlayStation Move Ape Escape: Tag Rally, Slingsnipe!, and Sprayzer Defense Force promise to keep gamers entertained long after they've caught 'em all. These games all feature multiplayer support, so there is plenty of fun to be had with friends who aren't judgmental of a certain someone's incessant need to capture and record the data of an unhealthy number of monkeys

Are you looking forward to the new Ape Escape? would you prefer a traditional Ape Escape title, rather than this on-rails shooter? Are you surprised that the game is being released on PSN?

Capture some of those maniacal monkeys in PlayStation Move Ape Escape this Summer, exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
