Rumor Patrol: ‘PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale’ Characters and Stages Leaked

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Final Roster

There are still plenty of secrets in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale that gamers are gnawing at the bit to discover. The final roster is easily the most heavily speculated aspects of the Super Smash-inspired Sony brawler, and rightfully so, because Battle Royale presents the opportunity for players to pit their favorite characters against each other. In saying that, an alleged leak may have confirmed a few new characters that’ll be joining the already star-studded roster.

Reddit user 696Ly took to the popular forum with a number of screenshots that not only confirm the inclusion of eight brand new characters, but six previously unconfirmed stages as well. According to the Reddit user, the “source is a friend of friend of a friend.” Unfortunately, many of the screenshots showcasing the unplanned reveals for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale have been completely covered in text that simply says “leak,” making it difficult to properly identify one of combatants.

PlayStation Allstars Battle Royale Roster Leak

The picture showcases the previously announced Jak, Cole MacGrath, Heihachi and Toro. They were not the only fighters shown though, as some much desired first and third-party newcomers were prominently on display. The characters include:

  • Sir Daniel Fortesque (MediEvil)
  • Spike (Ape Escape)
  • Ratchet (Ratchet & Clank)
  • Sackboy (LittleBigPlanet)
  • Nariko (Heavenly Sword)
  • Evil Cole (inFamous) OR Nathan Hale (Resistance)
  • Dante (Ninja Theory’s Devil May Cry)
  • Raiden (Metal Gear Solid)

The addition of a second version of Cole MacGrath is a little unnecessary, despite the premise that “Evil Cole” could have a different set of moves thanks in part to the pyrokinesis ability replacing the ice powers of “Good Cole.” Also, Spike from Ape Escape and Sir Daniel Fortesque from MediEvil were two of the characters we hoped for in our list of 25 characters that need to be in All-Stars Battle Royale, and it’s nice to see evidence emerge that the two may be included.

It’s worth noting that if these combatants are the real deal, then they will not compose the rest of the roster – as many of the already confirmed characters (Nathan Drake, Big Daddy, etc.) don’t appear in the images whatsoever.

The off-putting thing about the character images is that all of the art for each mascot already existed prior to this leak. What really makes these leaks stand out as authentic however, are various stages displayed in the screenshots. NeoGaf user miladesn took to the site’s forums with clearer shots of 696Ly’s arena pics – as well as three more new stages – claiming that they are from Battle Royale‘s stage selection screen. User shagg_187 also chimed in with the suspected names for three of the new locales.

  • ‘Alden’s Tower’ (inFamous)
  • ‘Black Rock Stadium’ (Twisted Metal)
  • ‘Columbia’ (BioShock Infinite)
  • ‘Invasion’ (Killzone)
  • ‘San Francisco’ (Resistance)
  • ‘Stowaways’ (Uncharted)
  • ‘Timestation’ (Ape Escape)
  • Unnamed (Loco Roco)
  • Unnamed (Sly Cooper)

In regards to the alleged characters, it’s entirely possible that these have been forged as some sort of sick prank to go along with the leaked stages. There’s almost no denying the authenticity of the new arenas though, so SuperBot has got some internal loose ends that need to be dealt with. Aside from that, the game looks to be building up rather nicely, and fans of the PlayStation brand can continue counting down the days until this crossover-fueled beat ‘em up hits store shelves.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale smashes onto the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita this October 23rd.

  1. still hope crash and spyro are in the game, I want a huge roster. I want at least 40, i know its alot but for a game like this i dont think its unreasonable. im happy with the leak, if it turns out true i will be pleased, Dante is a great third party character to have.

  2. YES SPIKE! I still need Spyro and Crash to buy this game though.

    • Yeah, it’s cool to see Spike getting some recognition.

There are likely still a number of unannounced characters (the voice actor for Solid Snake has been confirmed as involved, and that character has yet to make an appearance), so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Crash and Spyro.

  3. how could they not have crash? he is playstations first real name.

  4. They need to put CLOUD STRIFE in omg I would buy the game in a heartbeat!!!!!!

  5. I hope those characters are in the game, and those stages look awesome!

  6. YES! Sir Daniel Fortesque! I was hoping they’d put him in, after all, MediEvil was one of the most classic PlayStation exclusives.

  7. Here we go! Finally getting some great characters. As soon as Spyro and Crash are announced, I’ll be happy and place a pre-order.

  9. still waiting if Lightning, Sephiroth, Sora, Crash, Sypro, Ratchet and clank and rayman are going to be in the game

  10. I bet they’ll be jerks and give us crappy spyro and no crash.
Seems to be a trend since TxSF gave us fat megaman.

But yeah my votes for Spyro (classic) and Crash… Gex wouldnt hurt either but I’d rather not push my luck

  11. Honestly, who was thinking “I hope they include Evil Cole too.” seems like a lazy choice, and potentially waste of a character slot.

    • Agreed. If they really felt the need to include Evil Cole then it should have been in the form of a bonus costume, not an entirely new character.

      • if you played infamous you would understand, the characters have different powers, it wont be a wasted spot and wait for the trailer, who knows, this could easily be a fake because most are pretty much certain with a couple (dante and raiden) thrown in. The stages looks real though.

        • I’m aware that Evil Cole has fire powers instead of ice powers (I mentioned that in my post). Despite having the potential for a different move set, it would have been nice to see the effort put into an entirely different character.

You’re entirely right though, it could be completely fake. We’ll just have to wait and see! :P

  12. Sly Coopers map is called Paris
