Many gamers probably enjoyed the recent beta for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, and the team at Superbot Entertainment had been hard at work incorporating feedback from those participating into the final game. Now that the beta has come to an end, however, the fighting title has officially gone gold. To celebrate this occasion, Sony has released the opening cinematic for the game, and it shows off several things that were previously unknown about Battle Royale — like the final boss that fans have been speculating about since the game was first revealed.

After months of guessing, gamers can now put an end to the onslaught of speculation, because Polygon Man will indeed be the last opponent they face while progressing through the single-player component of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. The opening cut scene doesn't feature any gameplay of the actual boss fight — much to the dismay of anxious fans — but it's pretty cool that Superbot has chosen to resurrect the short-lived PlayStation mascot. Polygon Man was even mentioned in our list of 25 characters that need to be in All-Stars Battle Royale, so his inclusion is appreciated.

The trailer also highlights all 10 of the rivalries that players will become acquainted with while playing through the single-player portion. There are a grand total of 10 rivalries featured in the game, and exclusive footage highlighting the crossover-fueled animosity can be viewed while playing through the title.

Here's a full list of the rivalries in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, as made apparent within the opening cinematic:

  • Jak & Daxter vs. Ratchet & Clank
  • Nathan Drake vs. Sly Cooper
  • Fat Princess vs. Evil Cole
  • Sir Daniel Fortesque vs. Radek
  • Sackboy vs. Big Daddy
  • Nariko vs. Dante
  • Heihachi vs. Toro
  • Spike vs. Parappa
  • Good Cole vs. Raiden
  • Sweet Tooth vs. Kratos

Overall, the game is looking great, and those who've been following the development of PlayStation All-Stars should be content with what they've seen thus far. That said, the 20 character roster may still be somewhat of a deterrent to consumers, but the beta did prove that the game is a lot of fun. There's always the chance that there are a few extras that haven't been revealed (and downloadable combatants seem like a given), but at the very least Polygon Man should make for a fun boss fight.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will launch on November 20th for PS3 and PS Vita.
