Earlier this week, PlayStation debuted a new trailer for their cross-platform brawler PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Although it features a few seconds of actual gameplay, most of the footage is comprised of claymation conversations between the cast of the game. It's no secret that the people behind the hit Adult Swim show Robot Chicken are gamers, but this collaboration might be their most blatant admission yet.

This isn't the first advertisement for PlayStation All-Stars to focus on something other than the actual game. Late last month saw the reveal of a live-action commercial that has already garnered over 5 million views.

Sony is no stranger to creative marketing. From the first Kevin Butler ad to the 'Michael' commercial during the Long Live Play campaign, Sony knows how to strike a chord with their audience. Teaming up with Robot Chicken should be yet another success in a long string of successful marketing campaigns.

PS All Stars Robot Chicken

Much like the live-action commercial, this clay-made rendition of the PS All-Stars includes only a small assortment of the game's playable characters: Kratos, Nathan Drake, Nariko, Sackboy, Sweet Tooth, Radec, and the lovable duo that is Jak and Daxter.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Robot Chicken production if it wasn't a parody, so rather than taking place on the battlefield, the minute long clip gives us a glimpse of what the All-Stars do in between battles. Kratos and Nathan are understandably emasculated after being taken to town by a "burlap sack," Sweet Tooth is mad at Colonol Radec for "steamrolling" him, and Nariko is apparently into the freaky stuff. It's worth a watch if solely for the fact that Kratos sings a short song about bagels.

As fun as the advertisement is, it's worth checking out our review before rushing out to pick up the game. SuperBot Entertainment has also begun to discuss the first batch of DLC characters, which include Emmett from Starhawk and Kat from Gravity Rush. Here's hoping that Robot Chicken returns to the world of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale once the roster has expanded.
