French retailer Innelec Multimedia possibly leaks the release window of the rumored PlayStation 4.5 console, and also refers to the system as the Neo 4K.

Sony hasn't been able to keep a lid on its supposed PS4.5, an upgraded version of the PlayStation 4 that is expected to be announced this year. The latest leak of information comes from French retailer Innelec Multimedia, which refers to the PlayStation 4.5 as the "Neo 4K" in its report, and gives gamers a better idea of when they can expect the upgraded console to drop.

According to Innelec Multimedia, the Neo 4K device will release within the first half of the fiscal year, which puts the device in the release range of April 2016 to September 2016. While that doesn't seem very specific, we can make some educated guesses as to what month the system will actually release.

E3 2016 is right around the corner in June, and it seems likely that the system will have its proper unveiling then, during Sony's press conference. With the system expected to be announced in June, it is unlikely that it will also launch in the same month. In fact, releasing the hardware during any of the months in the summer season seems like a questionable move, as the gaming industry is traditionally in a slump (compared to the rest of the year) during this time.

The most likely scenario, assuming Innelec Multimedia's information is correct, is that the PlayStation 4.5 will release in September. This puts it right at the start of the fall gaming rush, and could make it a hot product for Black Friday and the holiday season in general. Furthermore, previous reports indicate that the PlayStation 4.5 will release before PlayStation VR, and we know that PlayStation VR is releasing in October, so September seems like the perfect time to launch the PS4.5.

Of course, like all information surrounding the PS4.5 at this juncture, one should take this news with a grain of salt. Until Sony actually unveils the PlayStation 4.5, the system is only hypothetical, even if quite a bit of evidence has cropped up in favor of it existing in recent weeks.

With E3 2016 set to kick off next month, if the PS4.5 does indeed exist, we will likely learn more about it at that time. Assuming Sony does use E3 2016 to reveal the PlayStation 4.5, it will be interesting to see if Innelec Multimedia's release window is correct, and if other rumors surrounding the device, like its supposed capability to reach 4K resolution, turn out to be true.

PlayStation 4.5 is rumored to release by the end of September of this year.
