PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Leaks

It feels like just yesterday that we reported a massive leak pertaining to unannounced characters and stages in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale… oh wait, it was yesterday. As it turns out, all of the information was pilfered from the top secret PlayStation All-Stars beta – currently available for a select number of dedicated PS3 users – and now a ton of new information has been found within the confines of the beta’s code.

According to the forums at NeoGaf and GameFaqs, there is still a bountiful amount of content that the developers at SuperBot have yet to even touch on. A total of 20 supporting characters, 17 items, and 28 game modes/miscellaneous features have been brought to light thanks to code dogs who’ve torn apart the beta. Everything sounds rather enticing thus far, but it’s the current list of minions that tells us who we can cross off our All-Stars wish list.

Leaked characters such as DmC‘s Dante and Metal Gear Revengeance‘s Raiden were surprising, yet very much appreciated, roster additions, but many fans have been hoping that other characters from their games would show up in Battle Royale as well. While some fan-favorite sidekicks will not be playable, there are plenty scheduled to appear as something that SuperBot is calling ‘minions’. These characters will show up in the background of select stages, and a few will even interact with the fighters.

The current list of non-playable support characters is as follows:

  • Athena (God of War)
  • Captain Qwark (Ratchet & Clank)
  • Worker (Fat Princess)
  • Dollface (Twisted Metal)
  • Helghast Soldier (Killzone)
  • Kai (Heavenly Sword)
  • Kat (Devil May Cry)
  • Keira (Jak & Daxter)
  • Kiya (MediEvil)
  • Kuma (Tekken)
  • Little Sister (BioShock)
  • Monkey (Ape Escape)
  • Murray (Sly Cooper)
  • Nix (inFamous 2)
  • Pierre (Doko Demo Issho)
  • PJ Berri (Parappa the Rapper)
  • Sackbot (LittleBigPlanet 2)
  • Sam (Metal Gear Revengeance)
  • Sully (Uncharted)
  • Zeke (inFamous 2)

As previously mentioned, an updated list of items was also revealed. Bountiful amounts of weapons from several of Sony’s intellectual properties have found their way into Battle Royale, and it sounds like they’ll contribute to the final package rather nicely. The armaments also give representation to franchises that otherwise wouldn’t appear in the game, so the inclusion of Wipeout‘s Gravity Shield and ModNation Racers‘ Sonic Rift are appreciated.

The current list of items is as follows:

  • Atomizer (Resistance 3)
  • Baumusu Axe (The Mark of Kri)
  • Boots of Hermes (God of War III)
  • Freeze Missile (Twisted Metal)
  • Golf Club (Hot Shots Golf)
  • Gravity Shield (Wipeout)
  • Hedgehog Grenade (Resistance)
  • Dohvat Laser Designator (Killzone 3)
  • Leech Beem (Wipeout)
  • Murder of Crows (Bioshock Infinite)
  • Railgun (Metal Gear Solid 4)
  • Razor Claws (Ratchet and Clank)
  • RPG (Uncharted)
  • Scythe (Fat Princess)
  • Spear (God of War)
  • Sonic Rift (ModNation Racers)
  • Sackbot (Little Big Planet)

Last, but certainly not least, a list consisting of both All-Stars‘ game modes and features was released. The fighting game will have the basic modes that many suspected, such as ‘Arcade’ and ‘Training’ modes, but there are also a number of features that come as somewhat of a shock. Free Roam? It’ll be interesting to see how SuperBot incorporates that mechanic into a fighting game.

Now that a large portion, if not all, of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has been leaked, it’s a relief to admit that the title appears to be shaping up rather nicely. It’s believed that despite this massive leak, there are still a number of secret characters and stages that have yet to be revealed. Gamers will continue to keep their fingers crossed for any sign of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon, while others can now put to rest dreams of sidekicks like Zeke and Sully joining the fray as playable contenders.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is launching on the PS3 and PS Vita this October 23rd.

  1. this game is really turning out to be a pleasant surprise, the modes are interesting and the cameo non-playable characters are awesome, not sure why people wanted zeke and sully in the roster (i thought they were waste of slot)so them being cameo are great imo. There is one third party character i want but i know will never come and its Goku from Dragon Ball games, can you imagine that lol. Really any character from Dragon Ball Z would be perfect.

  2. This game keeps sounding better and better. SuperBot is really trying to make a great game, rather than making a barebones SSB knock off.

    • I agree. Really looking forward to it. While I do want the game to have its own feel the one thing that I haven’t seen and I’m going to really miss (or maybe I’m just blind) is launching characters off the screen. That was always so much fun watching my friends rocketing to the sides or shooting off into the background after I just bombed them. Actually, I nearly choked to death on pepsi and cookies one time watching friends play it. True story.

      • Lol I agree. When you kill people they just go up in a beam of blue… light? I also don’t like the whole “3 levels of super moves” mechanic. But that’s how SuperBot decided to differentiate PSASBR from SSB.

        • I will say the gamble of cashing in one super rather than saving it to work towards a more powerful attack was pretty enjoyable during play. Certainly made more sense playing than it does conceptually, maybe. But I can’t disagree that plenty of the motivation was for the sake of making the game SEEM different.

  3. I’m seeing a dangerous lack of Spyro and Crash… I’ll still get the game without them, but I certainly won’t be buying it day one. Probably get it for 20 bucks used down the line.

    • Well think of it this way. They need to keep some characters out for a sequel. :]

      • Don’t forget about DLC.

  4. I just hope the game doesn’t suck.
