Peaky Blinders writer and creator Steven Knight has confirmed that the show will end after its sixth season. Instead of a seventh season, the massively popular series will "continue in another form."

Peaky Blinders follows Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, and the rise to power of his gang and his notorious crime family in post-WWI Birmingham. The show airs on the BBC in the UK and has gained worldwide popularity due to its availability on Netflix. Season six of the show recently began production in England after experiencing massive delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon announcing the beginning of production, Steven Knight released a statement saying, "Peaky’ is back and with a bang. After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form." The show's executive producer, Caryn Mandabach, stated, "Along with our wonderful, supportive partners at BBC and Netflix, we have been working diligently to ensure we can get ‘Peaky’ safely back into production; the safety of our cast and crew is always our priority. Thank you to all the ‘Peaky’ fans who have been so unwaveringly supportive and patient. Steve’s scripts are incredible and mark the end of an epic story that has entranced audiences since it first started in 2013, but the world of ‘Peaky Blinders’ will most definitely live on."

It is unclear how exactly the world of Peaky Blinders will continue. It's possible that a spin-off series, which will follow other characters or groups in the world of Peaky Blinders could be what's next for the creators. It is also possible that a further conclusion or a spin-off will come in the form of a movie. Peaky Blinders has not been afraid to kill off major characters, even before the final season, so who or what a spin-off would focus on is hard to guess before knowing what characters are left standing.

For those waiting impatiently for the sixth season of Peaky Blinders to complete production, a video game based on the hit series was released in August 2020. Peaky Blinders: Mastermind was created with the help of show creator Steven Knight and serves as a prequel to the television series. The puzzle adventure game is currently available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One and can give fans their Peaky Blinders fix while waiting for the final season.

Peaky Blinders is available on BBC One and Netflix.
