With Overwatch releasing five years ago, gamers have had plenty of time to come up with skins for their favorite heroes. Fresh ideas are still coming, though, with the Reddit user sunshxvine sharing an awesome concept for the Overwatch hero Mercy.

While there are plenty of skilled Overwatch fans, few have been as consistently great when it comes to skin concepts as sunshxvine. The Redditor was responsible for releasing one of the best Overwatch skin concepts, as Lovebringer Mercy saw the medic being transformed in a major way. With pointy ears, pink hair, and a fancy outfit, the Valentine’s Day concept proved extremely popular with fans. As such, it makes sense that sunshxvine would make Mercy her target of choice once again, though this time around the look is quite different.

Perfect for Overwatch’s annual Summer Games event, the design transforms Mercy into a lifeguard. A fitting role given the fact that she is usually saving lives in her normal job, the concept art sees her being dressed perfectly for the occasion. Wearing a tied Lifeguard shirt and some shorts, her outfit his perfect for the hot weather that she would likely be facing. Her blonde hair is kept up in her usual ponytail style, though, ensuring that she does not look completely different from the Mercy that fans already know and love.

While the outfit makes sense, this piece of Mercy art works so well because of the little details. On her side, she can be seen wearing a kickboard and pouch, with both likely meant to aid her in any rescues. On one of her legs, a bottle of sunscreen can be seen, giving her the chance to protect herself and others from the sun’s harmful rays. The whistle around her neck is also clever, with the red wristband matching as well. Her wings also feature a cross symbol, with more lifeguard text seen on her back. A pair of sandals rounds out the list of small touches.

One thing that sunshxvine always remembers to include in her skin concepts are weapons, and this design is no different. Mercy’s Caduceus staff and pistol both get a redesign, with the two tools matching the color scheme of the main outfit. The medic symbol is displayed on the pistol, too, while the staff includes a unique tip. With the design being so strong, the only thing that could make an in-game version better is if it had special voice lines attached. With fellow Mercy fan Sauce005 making a great suggestion for one of these lines, Blizzard could certainly look to this post for inspiration.

One thing that makes a skin like this somewhat likely is the fact that the Overwatch heroes McCree and Pharah have lifeguard skins of their own. As such, hopefully sunshxvine’s latest Mercy suggestion becomes more than just a concept.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
