Thanks to assets pulled from a Korean PTR, the coveted golden weaponry offered to the most-skilled players in Overwatch's competitive mode are revealed in all their glory.

Ever since Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan mentioned Reinhardt's golden hammer in a developer update released earlier this week, fans have been champing at the bit for a peek at the rest of the golden weaponry lineup. Now, gamers can get a glimpse at these shiny new weapon skins and see just what they will be fighting for.

Since these images were taken from a Korean PTR (public test realm) they are subject to change. These could be the final skin designs or Blizzard could make adjustments before competitive mode is released, but it is a safe bet these are it.

There are plenty of cosmetic goodies to be obtained in Overwatch, but the really good stuff is in the game's upcoming competitive mode, which is set to release at the end of June. The mode will offer several unique sprays, player icons and skins that will not be available in loot boxes and cannot be purchased with credits; players will have to earn them each season. At least one of the top-tier rewards for competitive mode will be golden weaponry given to the most proficient players. It will surely be an intimidating sight to behold in-game and players who have them will wield them with pride.

Golden weaponry appears to be one of, if not the, hardest cosmetic items in the game to obtain. At least that is the impression Blizzard is giving players. As for the other rewards in competitive mode, such as unique character skins, nothing has been elaborated on, but it is assumed they will be drastically different from skins available in the main game.

Let us just hope that when competitive mode does launch it is not marred by DDoS attacks that have become a reoccurring annoyance instigated by bored hackers. If it is, and players are unable to log into Overwatch, they could always mod Tracer into Street Fighter V to pass the time.

Overwatch is still fairly new and is already offering several ways for players to stand out. Competitive mode will offer even more ways to be an individual and, who knows, maybe Blizzard will offer golden character skins to go with those golden weapons. At least, gamers can dream that this will be the case.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
