Game Rant Open Discussion

Here it is, the weekly Open Discussion for December 20, 2012. Now’s your chance to choose the topics, whether they be in relation to what game’s you’re playing or news items that have caught your interest.

As far as game releases are concerned there isn’t much to report with Kinect Party existing as the sole release (albeit a downloadable one) worth mentioning. Gamers interested in tooling around with their Kinect this holidays can pick the game up for free right now, but act fast as the offer expires in two weeks.

In the news world it’s also been a considerably slow week, although there were some interesting tidbits of note including the first 5 minutes of BioShock Infinite and a few major patches for games like Borderlands 2 and Assassin’s Creed 3. To go from 0 to 60 with BioShock Infinite reveals, Irrational Games has provided details on both the opening and closing of their highly anticipated game, to the point that many fear they know too much. We doubt that Irrational Games has revealed all there is to know about the game, even if they are being much more forthcoming than we expected.

As the gaming populace prepares to wind down for the holidays, so too does the gaming news world. But rest assured if anything important happens, we’ll make sure to cover it regardless.

But those are only just some of the topics worth discussing; feel free to share your thoughts or gripes about any recent news or game that has caught your fancy. Or maybe, in the spirit of the holiday, tell us what game franchises/games you are thankful for.

Also, respect should be paid towards every commenter, and that no disparaging remarks will be tolerated. This is a place for gamers to get together and discuss the things they love, so have at it.

And if you want to talk about Movies or TV, head on over to Screen Rant’s Open Discussion post.

What games are you guys playing over the holidays?

So far I’m going through Risen 2 and Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2. I also started Child of Eden and Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD (Vita).

Hopefully I’ll be playing The Walking Dead game (I want it on disc!) but they’ve been sold out at every store I’ve been to. I’ve been playing ME3’s multiplayer in the meantime, they’ve added soooo many characters to unlock.

How do you like Risen 2?

      • Anthony Mole

It’s…interesting. It has a lot of bad qualities and a lot of good qualities. I picked up for $20 and am enjoying it though.

Um….Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Game Stop. Bound to find one…

I was going to say Uncharted 3 but I played it for the first time not long ago and was put off somewhat by the gameplay. I feel like its to easy to kill and that the AI is not that smart. Further more I hate how Aim assist is almost integrated into this and damn near any other shooter for that mater. So I might just play Sleeping Dogs instead…

What game, gaming system, or gaming peripheral are you guys hoping to receive during this Holiday season?

With all of the awesome 3DS titles arriving in the first half of 2013, I’m hoping to score a 3DS XL. 😀

I’m hoping for the walking dead cuz it’s been sold out everywhere I’ve tried and the mass effect trilogy on ps3. Never played the first but loved playing through 2/3. Uh also hitman rented it the other day reminds me of a splinter cell game then hitman but still very fun.

So is there a game trailer you can think of that was really awesome but when the game came out you were disappointed and nothing in the trailer was in the game. ??

For me dead island. Amazing cinematic Disapointing game for me.

    • Riley Little

I’ve definitely been dissapointed with a title after watching the game’s trailer.
I think the most dissapointed I’ve been after watching game trailers, though, are games that look fantastic and then disappear/get canned. I’m looking at you, The Last Guardian.

I agree with Dead Island. It definitely wasn’t what I thought it would be, but I still had fun with it.

    • boogoo

I’ll say Star Wars: The Old Republic. Not that I was disappointed with the game, since I haven’t played it, but it’s an MMO and I don’t/can’t play MMOs. Those trailers/cinematics were beautiful.
