Everyone's favorite Mudokon, Abe, just retweeted some very special news for Oddworld fans less than an hour ago. Just Add Water Developments, known for their shooter Gravity Crash, has announced they are working with Oddworld Inhabitants to develop several, yes several, new Oddworld projects.

JAW promises plenty of new details over the coming weeks and months. They did mention that their games will be spread across multiple platforms though, so we're likely to see Abe and other Oddworld characters on the PC and consoles.

Here's the news straight from Just Add Water’s Managing Director Stewart Gilray:

"To work with the team at Oddworld has been amazing; being able to tap the minds of Lorne Lanning, Sherry McKenna and others has been fantastic,"... "It’s almost symbiotic in that when something moves forward on any of the projects we just start chatting about new items, or what if we do this. We’re all extremely excited to breathe life into the Oddworld universe and indeed to let it breathe life into us."

One of my greatest sins is never having played an Oddworld game and I have to live with that every day. I do know, however, that the Oddworld series was set up to be a pentology, but only completed two of the five games. Abe's Oddyssey and Munch's Oddyssey, along with several side adventures that weren't actual parts of the pentology, managed to capture the imaginations of many many gamers. This is sure to be very big news.

The biggest question for JAW is of course whether they'll be continuing the pentology. Squeek's Oddyssey was rumored to be the title of the third episode in the series, but will that project be restarted as well?

Time will tell, Ranters! Either way, are you excited for a return to Oddworld?
