Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is a free-to-play mobile gacha game that's set in the same world as the original Octopath Traveler. However, Champions of the Continent's story is a prequel, giving players entire new story chapters with the turn-based JRPG combat Octopath fans are used to.

Once players boot up Champions of the Continent for the first time, they'll go through some text sequences that set up the scene, and then they'll randomly become one of the game's playable characters. If players don't like the character they were given, they can try to 'reroll' by clearing the game data and cache on their Android device. For iPhone users, the game will need to be deleted and reinstalled entirely.

In order to fully experience the story of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, players should make sure to play through each tale. By choosing one of the three paths, players will be set forth on a unique story. However, it doesn't really matter which one players decide to choose, as all the other tales can be started later.

As for what each path entails, look below for a summary of all three.

Tale of Wealth

Those that choose the Tale of Wealth will begin their journey in the verdant forests of the Woodlands. Players will cross paths with the Covetous Witch named Herminia, who has inflicted the town of Valore with darkness.

Tale of Power

The Tale of Power will take players to the snowy frontiers of the Frostlands, where they will cross paths with the hero Tytos. Tytos is the leader of a group called the Scarlet Wings, which is made up of former bad guys.

Tale of Fame

And last but not least, the Tale of Fame will introduce players to a brilliant playwright named Auguste in the grassy meadows of the Flatlands. He's been causing issues in Theatropolis, the city of the arts, so players will need to fix the problem.
