Monthly Game Guide October

Following all of the Wii U news in September, it’d be expected that gamers across the world have started saving their pennies. But until the console’s November 18th release date, October comes packed with a myriad of high profile titles, aiming to drain out Wii U funds.

October starts off strong with Resident Evil 6, which is followed closely by XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Dishonored – both of which drop on the 9th. Meanwhile, both the Vita and Xbox 360 are looking to have strong months, with Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation and Zero Escape Virtue’s Last Reward releasing on the former, and Forza Horizon and Fable: The Journey for the latter. Of course, we can’t forget about Assassin’s Creed 3, which drops just before Halloween.

  1. NBA2K13, Doom 3, MOH: Warfighter, and Assassins Creed 3. It will be a busy month for me.

  2. And it begins!

  3. I’m picking up XCOM: Enemy Unknown & Dishonored, followed by Silent Hill: Book of Memories and Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward.

I’ve also got my copy of Mugen Souls coming in soon, but I probably won’t get around to playing it until I finish Hyperdimension Neptunia, which I’ve been slowly making my way through since February.

If any of you are on the fence about Enemy Unknown, there’s demo up on Steam!

  4. 6 Vita releases in one month. Definitely purchasing AC3:L and thinking about New Little King Story as well as Silent Hill.

  5. Dishonored and AC3 although I’ll wait till black friday to see if AC3 gets marked down

  6. Absolutely pickibg up ac3
Possibly need for speed and I’m gonna wait for a review for resident evil.

Rob will u guys have a review for resident evil?

    • Yessir! Our man Curt is working away on it now. Should be up this week hopefully!

      • Sweet! Holding out on buying it till I read why you guys got. Lol trust this site more then any other. :)

        • Thanks man! Whoa, coming from ‘The Mighty Avenger,’ that’s high praise.

I think the number of serious Resident Evil fans willing to grasp the type of things the series has grappled with over the years is pretty slim. Not saying that reviewers aren’t capable, but…niche reviews are tricky.

          • Haha your welcome glad you noticed lol . Keep up all the great work guys!
Always enjoy your content and love the reviews on games.

It must be different reviewing games instead of movies or shows cuz the added factors games have but you guys do a great job.

Gonna download resident evil 1 tonight. That game scared the crap out of me when I was a child.

  7. PS3 is getting a new Harvest Moon game? Or is it some HD edition for download? Hmmm.

Anyways, I’m looking forward to AC3 and I WAS planning on getting RE6 but I can’t get past the choppy gameplay from the demos and the overall changes they made. A real shame since I loved RE5.

    • It’s neither actually – just the original game re-released as a PS2 Classic.

  8. I pre-ordered Most Wanted for PS3, so I’m pretty excited about it. Other than that I’m not planning on getting any October releases.

What’s the deal with Ruff Trigger: The Vanocore Corporation? I Googled it but I found stuff about Ruff Trigger: The Vanocore Conspiracy, a mediocre PS2 game. So did Mole accidentally misword the title? If so, does that mean it’s getting an HD re-release?

Never heard of Derrick the Deathfin, so I found a video about it and boy does it look odd. “PSN’s premier underwater papercraft action game?” I can’t see it selling well.

    • As with the Harvest Moon game, Ruff Trigger is a PS2 game that’s being re-released on PSN as a PS2 Classic. I’ll try to find some way of detailing what games are re-releases for next month’s guide.

Also, Derrick the Deathfin looks amazing!

      • Ah, okay. You should correct the title to Ruff Trigger: The Vanocore Conspiracy then.

Derrick the Deathfin just looks weird and simple and therefore not worth a purchase. I see a lot of swimming and not much else. You don’t even doing anything to get past enemies or traps, you just swim. Boring.

        • Bleh, I didn’t even see you pointed out that typo the first time around. Fixed.

As for Deathfin, the art style is what makes it stand out, and at $7.99 I can’t say no.

          • It does deserve credit for its papercraft art style.

  9. I’m very hyped for back and white 2, N’s story is by far my favorite from the pokemon games and the massive amount of pokemon available from the get go has me gittery :D

  10. I’m very hyped for back and white 2, N’s story is by far my favorite from the pokemon games and I can’t wait to see what he’s done. Also, the massive amount of pokemon available from the get go has me gittery :D

  11. Also worth mentioning that Halo 4 is out the first week of November.

But this month, Dishonored, AC3 and maybe RE6 if I have the money.
