October 2011 is a month gamers have been looking forward to for quite some time. Why? Because at the end of the month we all get to dress up like our favorite video game characters and not be made fun of. Oh and there's also some game coming out called 'Batman Field 3' or something.

Read on for the first edition of the Game Rant monthly game guide where you can find a full release schedule of everything coming out in the gaming world as well as info on the titles each member of the Game Rant team plan to play.

We're already over a month into the holiday rush, and there are already too many games to handle. Below you'll find what we'll be playing, followed by our #1 most anticipated game. At the very end, the full October video game release schedule.

Jeff Schille

[Ed. Note: Jeff is still thinking about what he's going to play but look for his Forza 4 review in the near future!]

Andrew Dyce

Gears 3 will be a time-suck - no question, but that was no surprise after last month. For October, Battlefield 3 would be on my list, but Arkham City takes my most anticipated spot.

Jason Weissman

You can put me down as wishing I had time to play anything. I am still finishing DX:HR. In an ideal world, I'd play Demon Souls back to back with Dark Souls. The beta for BF3 on PC was pretty, but not mind-blowing. Bigger problem was that it was kind of dull.

Riley Little

I'm loving Gears of War 3, and I'll play that game until the fourth one comes out. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on Battlefield 3 later this month, and I can see quite a few Game Rant games nights focused on that title. Also, Pokemon Rumble Blast.... leave me alone.

John Jacques

I'm all about the Gears of War 3 right now. FIFA 12 also has me excited, but I haven't picked it up yet! [Ed. Note: I added Minecraft since John is our resident Minecraft master - he and Rob still play religiously!]

Trung Bui

I'm getting pretty into Deus Ex: Human Revolution, when I actually pick up and play it. Obviously, behind the power curve here with not having Gears 3, but I'd much rather have BF3. I'll also be playing RAGE for Game Rant, after waiting years to play it!

  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  • Battlefield 3
  • Rage

Jacob Siegel

It's all about Dark Souls for me. I want to throw all my controllers this October. I'll be too busy dying in that to pick anything else up.

CJ Smillie

If I can somehow get my hands on it, Batman: Arkham City will be taking up most of my time. If not, I'll probably play through Arkham Asylum for the fifteenth time in preparation.

  • Batman: Arkham City

Anthony Taormina

While I'm just interested to check out Battlefield 3 because it's been talked about so much, I am really looking forward to the "mans"... Batman and Spider-Man that is.

Dwayne Holder

Yeah I got nothin'. Mainly because all the games I'm looking forward to are coming out in November, and the fact that my PC can't play Battlefield 3 just yet. If it could play Battlefield 3 then that would be my choice. :P

  • Battlefield 3

Anthony Mole

Despite having yet to finish Demon's Souls, I plan to start off October with Dark Souls. The rest of the month will be focused around All 4 One's co-op and House of the Dead: Overkill, with some of VVVVVV's custom player levels on the side. I might also pick up Battlefield 3 if the single player turns out to be any good.

Alex Sebenski

Batman: Arkham City is my most anticipated October release. I'll also play some Battlefield 3 since I upgraded my PC just for it.

  • Batman: Arkham City
  • Battlefield 3

Vivas Kaul

My sights are set on Batman: Arkham City. Also, with all these sequels coming out, it behooves me to plays some of their predecessors. Maybe I'll also get around to picking up Deus Ex: Human Revolution, since the more I see and hear about that game, the more curious I am to play it. I'll have to delete some stuff from my PS3 HDD if I plan on playing RAGE.

Andrew Griggs

[Ed. Note: Griggs is playing Orcs Must Die! at the moment to review for Game Rant.]

  • Battlefield 3

Robert Keyes

I really hope to play more Arkham Asylum to finish it in time for Arkham City. I'm not the biggest racing fan but Forza 4 makes me want to be one and get a Kinect. Gears of War 3, I'll still be playing just for its multiplayer and although I think the BF3 beta is weak-sauce, I'll be getting it on PC in addition to RAGE out of loyalty to id Software.

  • Forza Motorsport 4
  • Battlefield 3
  • Batman Arkham Asylum & Batman Arkham City
  • Rage
  • Gears of War 3

Ben Kendrick

I've been intentionally avoiding recent news about Batman Arkham City because there's no doubt that it's going to dominate my gaming time in the second half of the October. In addition, I'm sure I'll be playing plenty of Gears of War 3 and Resistance 3 multiplayer - as well as testing out Uncharted 3 multiplayer through Subway's early access demo.

Game Rant's Most Anticipated Game

Batman Arkham City

Batman-Most-Anticipated-Game-Catwoman

Batman: Arkham City may be our most anticipated title, but it was a close choice between it and Battlefield 3. However, as the follow up to the rather exceptional Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City is just going to be too difficult for most of our writers to pass on. With stunning graphics, great gameplay and just being a complete revamp of Asylum, Arkham City is more than justified as the most anticipated title. Make no mistake, many of us are going to enjoy Battlefield 3 as well, but at the end of the day, not even the entire military might of Battlefield could topple the Dark Knight.

Batman: Arkham City releases October 18th, 2011 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, with the PC version releasing sometime in November.

Did we miss any games that you're looking forward to? Let us know in the comment section, and don't forget to include any games you hope to replay during the month.
