Coming off of the September release of their latest iPhones, Apple is ready to move on to their next set of hardware later this month. Considering the success of the iPhone 5S and 5C, selling a record-breaking 9 million units in its first weekend, it should come as no surprise that Apple is working to meet a deadline for the announcement of their newest line of products.
The routine has become like clockwork with invitation-only press conferences typically followed by a record-breaking product release – rinse and repeat. The focus come October 22nd is on a new generation of iPads where Apple seems to be sticking with the iPad Mini concept for this generation with rumors of improvements on the size of the tablet as well as the camera.
According to AllThingsD:
“The fifth-generation iPad is expected to feature a thinner, lighter design akin to the iPad mini’s, and an improved camera. It will run Apple’s new 64-bit A7 chip. The second-generation iPad mini will be upgraded with a retina display and also likely see the A7 incorporated into its innards. It’s not clear whether Apple’s new iPads will feature the Touch ID fingerprint sensor that recently debuted on the iPhone 5s, though that has been rumored.”
Truth be told there isn’t another tablet currently on the market that competes with the iPad from an economic standpoint with Apple commanding a large share of the tablet market, only recently overtaken by the entire collective of Android products from a wide range of manufacturers. A newer, sleeker, faster iPad is exactly what to expect when Apple’s press conference takes place toward the end of October.
According to alleged photos of the new iPad 5 from renown Apple insider Sony Dickson, the color range of the thinner line of new iPads will mirror that of the iPhone 5s, meaning silver, space grey and gold. See the images here.
Will you be considering the new generation of iPads for purchase and what improvements/new features would you like to see?
Apple’s press conference is scheduled for October 22, 2o13.
