With games like Left 4 Dead 2 and Assassin’s Creed 2 stealing all the gaming limelight, Dark Void seems to have flown (no pun intended) under the radar. Even so, this game looks to take a refreshing new look at the 3rd person shooter genre with its innovative vertical cover system and flight mechanics.
To show off the flight in the game, a new trailer has hit the internet. Check it out below.
If the time I spent with this game this past summer is any indication, this is easily the best the act of flying has felt in a game. Ever. Unlike most games that attempt flight, the character and vehicle models in Dark Void do more than look pretty. They truly make you feel like you’re in control of a random civilian who has strapped a rocket to his back. The character animations feel truly organic, allowing you to feel the turns, making your navigation throughout the game world even more immersive.
You can expect Dark Void to fly onto shelves January 19, 2010.
How do you feel about the flight mechanics in this game? Does it interest you or do you feel the game will be too gimmicky.
