There are many video game sequels that fans are hoping for, but Batman is one of those at the top of the list. A new installment of the Batman Arkham franchise has long been teased with cryptic announcements and a leaked title, but nothing solid has been confirmed by the developer, WB Games Montreal. With E3 cancelled for the year, it looks like the DC FanDome event could be the place for more details to be revealed about the mysterious Batman game.

DC FanDome is set to take place on August 22nd and is a free virtual convention covering all things DC universe. News about upcoming films, television series and comics are expected to be announced but most importantly there will be a segment focusing on WB Games. There are apparently DC games in development from both WB Games Montreal and Rocksteady, both of which could be confirmed at the event.

According to a report from Bloomberg, it is expected that the new Batman game will indeed be announced at DC FanDome. Whether the game will line up with the leaked Batman Gotham City Knights title or follow the rumored Court of Owls storyline will likely be revealed here. Given that live conventions are cancelled for the foreseeable future, DC Fandome is the perfect place for the game to reach its audience of DC fans this summer.

WB Games Montreal has previously worked on Arkham Origins and story add-ons for Arkham Knight, so the game is presumably in safe hands. The studio has been teasing the reveal of a new Batman property for months now, and with the leaked title suggesting the game is moving away from the Arkham franchise, the studio has free reign to take the Dark Knight in a new direction. How much of the Arkham DNA is kept in this new Batman title is something that will hopefully be answered in the announcement.

Another game that could possibly be announced at DC Fandome is the rumored Suicide Squad title. Batman Arkham developer, Rocksteady, has allegedly been working on a new DC video game for some time and a website domain name titled 'Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League' could point to the direction the studio is taking. DC Fandome is now only a couple of months away, where all these long awaited questions will hopefully get answers.

A new Batman game is currently in development.
