Godzilla Singular Point is an animated series that was released in Japan on March 25, 2021, and released on Netflix in Japan on April 1, 2021. This Godzilla series is directed by Atsushi Takahashi and is co-produced by the studios Bone (My Hero Academia) and Orange. This anime will feature a revitalized Godzilla, with new characters and old Kaiju.

The main characters are two young geniuses who are on a mission to unlock the mystery of the Kaiju. Though a specific release date for the show in the United States hasn’t been announced, Netflix has said it will be released sometime in June.

This show will take place in the Showa era of Godzilla, which was an era of Japanese filmmaking from 1954-1974. This era of Godzilla is often thought of as classic, with TV shows depicting more comedic and lighthearted characters. In the two decades that span this era, over 15 Godzilla films were made. With this show being based on this era of Godzilla, along with the Heisei Era, there are sure to be many amazing monsters making appearances.

The animation and art style of this anime is nothing to frown at. With beautiful colors and reimagined monsters, it appears to be breathing new life into Godzilla. It combines 3D animation with hand-drawn elements. The colors are extremely vibrant and the art style is modern and unique.

Character design was handled by manga creator Kazue Kato who works for Blue Exorcist, a manga company. The monster's design can be credited to Eiji Tamamori, who is a former artist for Studio Ghibli.

For the first season of the show, there will be 13 episodes aired. There is no news yet if it is greenlit for another season, but if it performs well it will definitely stand a chance. Fans have been waiting for a new anime with new characters and plot lines.

7 Sci-Fi Storyline

It is clear that this TV series will follow the normal parameters of most Godzilla productions and go with a sci-fi-based storyline. It shows off shiny new robotic suits and armor as well as new weapons to use against the Kaiju and eventually use against Godzilla himself.

In the trailer, a tool that could see into the future is teased as well. With the redesign of Jet Jaguar and the introduction of old, redesigned Kaiju, this show seems to be adding classic twists to the sci-fi elements.

6 Hero Or Villain?

The trailer shows massive destruction and chaos, but it isn’t clear if this is caused by Godzilla himself. It isn’t made clear if he is to be a villain or not. He isn’t seen in the first couple of episodes, leaving fans wondering. It isn’t out of the realm of possibilities that Godzilla could be a hero or antihero.

At a certain point in the trailer, his destruction is called for, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he will be evil. Throughout the years, he has oftentimes been depicted as an antihero. As the show continues, it will become clearer.

5 New Main Characters

New characters have been added to this series. A female scientist, Mei Kamino, and a male engineer, Yun Arikawa, take center stage as the new leads for this show. Described as “young geniuses”, viewers will follow these two brainiacs' journey as they seek to unlock the mysteries of the infamous Kaijus in order to protect humanity. Fans will also see new villains and classic monsters making an appearance.

4 Kaiju

The show will bring with it the potential for new or obscure Kaiju to be brought forth. Normally, the Kaiju that are depicted in shows and movies are classics like Rodan, Mothra, etc. Original Showa era Kaiju like Rodan, Gabara, and Anguirus are being brought back into the show. Fans are hopeful that new Kaiju will come to pass, or at the very least old, underuse Kaiju will make appearances.

3 Original Storyline

The storyline for this show is completely original and that is saying something. Throughout the years, audiences have seen many movies and TV shows based on the Godzilla franchise but they all seem to kind of do the same thing.

This show takes place in the Showa era of the Godzilla franchise, which ranged from 1954-1975. This means the show will take inspiration from that era, which was more lighthearted and centered around easy-going, comical characters.

1 Jet Jaguar

Jet Jaguar, a fan-favorite character, will be a main character of the show. His first appearance was in Godzilla vs Megalon. In the show, the classic heroic mecha is designed by Otaki Factory will aid Yun and Mei as a weapon for humanity.

He appears to have been redesigned, with a whole new robotic suit. Though he is redesigned, he still has similar colors and has the signature grin of his predecessor. It appears he will be an important element of the show as viewers see him go into battle with the Kaiju. He is the only weapon humanity has against them, making Jet Jaguar a character to watch.
