When it comes to Halloween and the spooky season, the atmospheric trope of horror is inspired. Games like Dead Space, Alien: Isolation, or Silent Hill are often considered the scariest games of all time by devoted fans, and for many players, there is no better time to muster courage and dive into a horror game than the month of October.

While there are a lot of games to celebrate this month for how horrifying they are, or how closely they equate to someone's perspective of what Halloween embodies, there are many different ways to celebrate Halloween's festivities. For example, Naughty Dog ceremoniously celebrated today's spooky festivities with a piece of lighthearted and wholesome art, rather than indulging in the more frightening aspects of the season.

Naughty Dog has shared artwork from its very own Ji Hye Lee, Naughty Dog's Character Concept Artist. The artist's Halloween-themed take on Uncharted features Nathan Drake and Chloe Frazer as the latter watches the former attentively carve a pumpkin. Uncharted's cinematic action-adventure never truly lends itself to horror motifs in the same way that The Last of Us and The Last of Us 2 might, but it is an adorable scene nonetheless that imagines what the experience of a Halloween-themed event may have looked like for Nate and Chloe.

That said, Naughty Dog is certainly no stranger to Halloween-themed events taking place in their games. The Last of Us' Left Behind DLC allows players to freely interact with masks and other props in the Spooky Town Costume Emporium, which is further confirmation that the outbreak occurred in-or-around the spooky season. With Naughty Dog's meta fourth-wall breaking, a costume for Uncharted 2's Nathan Drake can also be found within this store.

It is unclear what Nate plans to carve out of the pumpkin's face now that it is devoid of its pulpy guts, but it appears that Chloe is seemingly pleased with whatever design he has elected to go forward with. Ji Hye Lee's artwork reflects the charm and simplicity that Uncharted's principle characters brought to the franchise, and this pumpkin-carving scene would not be out of character for either Nate or Chloe.

Of course, there are multiple different traditions that people upkeep and hold dear for the occasion. Ji Hye Lee's painting, chosen for this day in particular, demonstrates that Halloween is not just about frights for Naughty Dog, but also enjoying one another's company similar to any traditional holiday.
