In case anyone wasn’t already aware, the Mortal Kombat X promotional tour is officially in full swing. We know this because the character reveals have slowed down considerably, but the gameplay details and trailers have started to ramp up.

Part of that ramp up includes today’s first live-action TV spot, which carries a familiar Mortal Kombat catch phrase. For anyone who has every played a MK game, the phrase “Fight!” is sure to generate a few memories.

In it, we see droves of ordinary citizens flocking to the big event that is a Mortal Kombat X fight. It would have been cool to see a live-action version of Scorpion and Sub Zero (or any other fighters, for that matter) fighting, but the idea still translates well enough. And the message that Mortal Kombat X is going to be a huge release seems pretty clear.

While the TV spot itself is decidedly light on gameplay, it should do well to drum up fan interest. Mortal Kombat has proven to be a formidable source of excitement these past few months – arguably more than it ever has before. For example, announcements like Jason Voorhees and Predator have helped create major talking (or debating) points, while the return of fan-favorites like Johnny Cage and Liu Kang has elicited nothing but excitement.

NetherRealm has also played host to regular live streams that focus on new fighters and reveal those fighter’s three different fighting variations. It’s also been a chance for the devs to communicate openly with their fans so as to learn what they do and do not like. Most of the time fans are asking to see Goro gameplay, but the NetherRealm devs promise that is coming. At the same time, fans shouldn’t expect to see all the MK X surprises until the finished game releases next month.

It’s worth pointing out, though, that a few years ago Mortal Kombat wouldn’t have been this major gaming hype driver. It was only after the release of MK 9 that developer NetherRealm Studios was able to reinvigorate the fan base and the franchise enough to turn Mortal Kombat X into one of this year’s most anticipated games.

What do you think of this Mortal Kombat X TV Spot? How excited are you for the game’s release?
