So far, Mortal Kombat X has a healthy post-launch life, as NetherRealm offers a variety of patches, updates, and DLC in order to extend the game's lifespan. The Horror Pack marked the Mortal Kombat X's first major DLC add-on, while the next DLC pack, the Klassic Pack, will be headlined by returning character Tanya.

Besides paid DLC add-ons, NetherRealm is also giving players free content with the game's updates. The studio added free skins for characters such as Reptile, and all future updates for the game will include free DLC as well. NetherRealm even added a new brutality involving the fan-favorite old woman Blanche. Now, a rumor indicates that NetherRealm plans on adding even more content to Mortal Kombat X with holiday-themed Seasonal Towers.

A user on Reddit claims that he discovered the Seasonal Towers while scrolling through his Kombat Kard banners. At this point, this is merely a rumor; however, considering the considerable post-launch support that Mortal Kombat X is receiving, it's not a ridiculous idea.

The Reddit user, who goes by the name CrissRiot, specifically calls out the following holidays in his post: the 4th of July, April Fools' Day, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, St. Patrick's Day, and Valentine's Day.

The 4th of July is a holiday specific to the United States, so it will be interesting to see if the Seasonal Towers differ by region. The 4th of July is also the next holiday on the list, so we'll find out if these Seasonal Towers actually exist in a couple of months.

It's not uncommon for games with online support to host holiday events. Major MMO titles such as World of Warcraft often add Christmas trees and the during the appropriate season. Nintendo's Animal Crossing is big into holiday events too, offering players a chance to partake in holiday-themed festivities and acquire season-exclusive items for their digital homes.

How Mortal Kombat X will implement Seasonal Towers remains to be seen. Many games commemorate holidays by adding alternate costumes based on the season at hand; considering NetherRealm plans on releasing a free skin with every update, holiday-themed outfits seem like the most likely course of action, perhaps as a reward for completing Seasonal Towers.

Keep in mind that Seasonal Towers haven't been officially confirmed. Right now, this is simply a rumor, and will remain so until NetherRealm offers concrete information.

Mortal Kombat X is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The reported second DLC add-on, the Klassic Pack, currently has an unknown release date, but it should be revealed soon, as should the existence (or lack thereof) of Seasonal Towers.
