Mortal Kombat X Predator DLC

With only a few months left until Mortal Kombat X hits store shelves, developer NetherRealm Studios certainly has their work cut out for them. While a lot of the heavy lifting has already been done thanks to gameplay trailers and preview events, it still feels like there is so much more of the game left to see. For example, we’re about two months out and we still don’t know the full Mortal Kombat X roster.

But, while a lot of the focus has been placed on the unannounced mainline fighters for Mortal Kombat X, fans have been constantly keeping an eye out for guest character teases. NetherRealm head Ed Boon hasn’t made that task any easier either, by regularly feeding fans seemingly insignificant teases that could also point towards major guest appearances. He tweets a box of cookies and says Sweet Tooth, and it isn’t long before people start speculating about Sony’s iconic clown making an appearance.

At the same time, the Sweet Tooth thing was merely drawing a connection where there may not be one. Sure, Boon played into it a little too hard, but he also never made an announcement, which keeps NetherRealm in the clear. Still, they are going to have to reveal some guest characters at some point.

Mortal Kombat X Predator DLC?

When they do eventually reveal Mortal Kombat X’s guest character slate, some believe that the Predator will be included among the bunch. This should obviously be treated with a massive grain of salt, but VideoGamer.com is claiming that Predator will be revealed as a DLC character in June.

Call of Duty Ghosts Devastation DLC Trailer - Predator

While the site can only reference a source within the Mortal Kombat X team, the Predator inclusion makes sense. He’s a character with a variety of weapons and abilities at his disposal, and he’s not afraid to indulge his brutally violent urges.

The source also claims that Al Dillon, the rough and tumble Colonel from the 1987 Predator film, will make an appearance as DLC, and will in fact be modeled after actor Carl Weathers. So it could be that the June DLC offering is a Predator pack, which includes at least two characters.

Al Dillon Joins the Roster

The Dillon detail is where the rumor ultimately starts to fall apart, as it’s hard to imagine NetherRealm would devote resources to two guest characters from the same universe. On the one hand the Predator is an easy sell for Mortal Kombat X, but Colonel Al Dillon hardly feels like a good fit. There are already several military-type characters in Mortal Kombat lore, and a new one just joined the cast in Cassie Cage.

So, it’s best to temper expectations for now and be wary of any potential guest character reveals. We’d love to see Predator join the cast, along with some other notable fighters, but it’s hard to know what NetherRealm’s plans are.

How do you feel about Predator joining the Mortal Kombat X roster? Do you think this rumor is legitimate?
