Five new Prestige levels and 400 new ranks have been added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on both the PC and the Xbox 360, with a PS3 update slated to follow at the end of this month. Robert Bowling, Creative Strategist for Infinity Ward, had announced the arrival of these new ranks and levels to Modern Warfare 3 earlier last week, but now they are finally available.

With the addition of five new Prestige levels for the game that brings the grand total to 15 Prestige levels before players cap out in their online multiplayer experience. Unlike a typical level cap raising however, this Modern Warfare 3 update is simply meant to offer players more opportunities to earn Prestige Tokens.

For those who might have yet to Prestige, or who are unaware of the benefits of doing so, a Prestige Token is a single credit that can be put towards a wide variety of items like double XP or unlocking a late level weapon immediately. 10 tokens, combined with any that were earned for prestiging in previous Call of Duty games, is more than enough to give players a taste of the advantages, but another five delivers a few more options.

On top of that, Infinity Ward, who has only just begun their 9-month long DLC extravaganza, wants to ensure gamers who had previously thought they were "done" with the experience to return. Obviously there are plenty of gamers who continue to sink hours into Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer long after hitting level cap, but a little incentive never hurts.

As for PS3 gamers, that Prestige cap increase along with the new ranks doesn't release until the 28th, the same time that the first map pack for Modern Warfare 3 releases for Elite Premium members on the PS3.

Will raising the Prestige cap entice you back into Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer? How do you feel about the idea of prestiging/resetting in a multiplayer experience?

Modern Warfare 3 is out now for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
