‘Modern Warfare 3′ Receives 5 New Prestige Levels and 400 New Ranks

Modern Warfare 3 5 Prestige Ranks

Five new Prestige levels and 400 new ranks have been added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on both the PC and the Xbox 360, with a PS3 update slated to follow at the end of this month. Robert Bowling, Creative Strategist for Infinity Ward, had announced the arrival of these new ranks and levels to Modern Warfare 3 earlier last week, but now they are finally available.

With the addition of five new Prestige levels for the game that brings the grand total to 15 Prestige levels before players cap out in their online multiplayer experience. Unlike a typical level cap raising however, this Modern Warfare 3 update is simply meant to offer players more opportunities to earn Prestige Tokens.

For those who might have yet to Prestige, or who are unaware of the benefits of doing so, a Prestige Token is a single credit that can be put towards a wide variety of items like double XP or unlocking a late level weapon immediately. 10 tokens, combined with any that were earned for prestiging in previous Call of Duty games, is more than enough to give players a taste of the advantages, but another five delivers a few more options.

On top of that, Infinity Ward, who has only just begun their 9-month long DLC extravaganza, wants to ensure gamers who had previously thought they were “done” with the experience to return. Obviously there are plenty of gamers who continue to sink hours into Modern Warfare 3‘s multiplayer long after hitting level cap, but a little incentive never hurts.

As for PS3 gamers, that Prestige cap increase along with the new ranks doesn’t release until the 28th, the same time that the first map pack for Modern Warfare 3 releases for Elite Premium members on the PS3.

Will raising the Prestige cap entice you back into Modern Warfare 3‘s multiplayer? How do you feel about the idea of prestiging/resetting in a multiplayer experience?

Modern Warfare 3 is out now for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

  1. THIS IS STUPID
    JUST LIKE THE GAME

  2. Just another stunt by Activision and Infinity Ward to keep millions of players playing for MW3 for millions of more hours.

  3. Yeah im with u…

  4. Oh Come On. Ya’ll have Got to give Activision and the COD developers credit for their business ingenuity at least. Look at it this way, there are literally Millions upon Millions of hard core COD fans of the series that buy and play their games day in and day out. So the devs know they have those dedicated players in their pockets. In addition, they have the manpower(Developers), fan support, positive reinforcement as well as the financial backing to stretch out enough content throughout the year. By releasing the DLC’s over a 9-month span they are able to hold the attention of all those fans until the next COD game comes out. Oh and lets not forget all of the little incentives the premium “Elite” subscribers get as opposed to all of the ones that don’t. The DLC’s are so spread out as well that the ones that don’t have the service are going to be more willing to upgrade to Premium because of the incentives. In the end, its all about the money and they know they have enough fans willing to spend that money no matter what they do…

Hopefully I explained myself well enough…

    • lol your serious arent you? check this out, i was a die hard cod fan from cod4 which was my first game on my ps3. the game was amazing, then i got cod waw, game kinda seemed like cod4 but it was okay, then i got cod mw2 which was the s*** man, then i got cod bo which sucked balls, then i got mw3. they all seem the same to me, mw3 i traded in after a month a gaming. to me its the same b******* ive been paying for year after year and i rather be playing bf3 which is new and has a new engine and shows how dedicated that team is to keeping me to stay and bring me on their side. activision brings nothing new year after year and if they do they charge you for it. and the only reason people play that game is because there going with the flow of their friends and everyone else on this damn earth.

      IMHO BF3>COD

  5. Why are they releasing everything late for the PS3?
To my knowledge, the DLC has been out on PC and X-Box for a while, but it still hasn’t been released on PS3?
And the update… why hasn’t it been made available to PS3 owners yet?

    • I think it’s because Microsoft just has more money compared to Sony. It’s really based on business.

      • lol more money? No. Its called a contract that should expire this year/MW3 and everyone should get the same next COD. Sony has the contract with EA on Battlefield so yes it is business but not exactly money just who gets to it first

        • It’s not a case of oh i got there first so it’s mine, it really is down to money, not which has more overall but which company is willing to spend more on that particular contract. Microsoft has always been a fan of getting timed exclusives with dlc

  6. I dont know why people give cod so much crap. Its not the best or most realistic but its just fun for players

  7. meow

  8. God I hate how the ps3 is alienated. Its rediculous.

    • I agree! I paid my $50 for the Elite Premium service too.

      • is it worth the 50 to get the elite premium?

  9. meow meow

  10. Not gonna lie but I’d rather have the game be fixed before they attempt to expand on it. Let’s face it, Modern Warfare 2 was the beginning of Infinity Ward’s track record of not listening to the community. With Modern Warfare 3, I find myself saying, “Wow. Great spawn, Bungie.” If you don’t get the reference, back in the day Bungie had some pretty bad spawns. The fact of the matter is, Modern Warfare 3 spawns are worse than any Bungie game’s spawns. It wasn’t until a spawn update was implemented until the game was actually broken. I have played games where someone spawns right in front of me with their back towards me. I like the free kill but as a rational person that should NEVER happen. When playing objective based games there are spawn swaps and I’ve spawned directly on where the bomb site was. I planted the bomb and the game was over. Too easy. But it’s true for the other way around; I have spawned so far away from the bomb site there there was no possible way to defuse the bomb. What actually takes the cake is how Infinity Ward assumes there spawn system is fixed. So excuse me when I say adding 5 prestige levels is irrelevant and Infinity Ward needs to fix their s***.

  11. IM done with this crap!! after using up so much xp in lvling guns to gold kiss my rear!!!you guys can’t fix the stupid spawns in hard hat and dome you so worried about those clithchers in xbox but the hackers can do what they want this game has turned into a joke! i’m going to stop playing and go try battlefield. how many more going to stop playing after stupid crap like this?????/
