While all of the big reveals for Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty Elite will be coming by way of the Call of Duty XP event this weekend, a few details have been leaked from someone who got their hands on the multiplayer demo that will be playable during the event. Though there was initially a video, all that is left are two screenshots and some sparse details including rumored names for the multiplayer maps, a new mode, and a raise in the player cap.

According to the video, and the two screenshots included below, Modern Warfare 3 will be featuring at least one new variant currently called Bomb Mode. What that means exactly we don’t know, but if it’s playable at Call of Duty XP we will know soon enough.

More importantly one of the screenshots suggests that the player cap for Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer might be raised from the standard 18 to 32. Whether that’s just for this Bomb mode or if it is an across the board addition is unclear, but based on Infinity Ward’s claims of MW3 featuring more impressive, and destructible environments it seems likely.

The final detail that was obtained by the individual responsible for this leak were the names of some/all of the multiplayer maps that will ship with Modern Warfare 3. Included in the list are Carbon, Coast, Dome, Exchange, Hardhat, Interchange, Lambeth, Meteora, Mogadishu, Paris, Plaza, Radar and Seatown.

Some make sense considering what we know about the game’s globe-trotting storyline, and others have that Call of Duty, matter-of-fact coolness to their monikers.

Obviously gamers won’t know for sure whether these rumors — 32-player cap, new Bomb Mode, and level names — are true until Call of Duty XP, but it’s certainly enough fuel for the fire going into the event. Modern Warfare 3 is only one small aspect of an event that includes a $1 Million Tournament, a Call of Duty-inspired obstacle course, and a Kanye West concert, but it’s definitely the element that gamers will be most focused on.

What do you think of these three rumored details about Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer? Do you think a 32-player level cap will impact matches?
