Mob Psycho 100 is an anime set in a world with superhuman psychic characters. It shares the same author with the hit series One Punch Man, and just like its counterpart, it is a series with an overpowered protagonist; Shigeo Kageyama. Shigeo is a young teenager who possesses immense psychic energy. Despite his tremendous power, however, he has a reserved personality and is not a big fan of violence.

Over the course of the show, Shigeo does not only develop as a person, but his psychic powers seem to grow with each encounter. He faces off against increasingly powerful opponents and, more often than not, comes out victorious. Here are the most impressive abilities Mob has been shown to possess in the series

10 Chlorokinesis

chlorokinesis

Mob is capable of using his psychic energy to manipulate plant life. This is not limited to just controlling their movement, as you would associate with regular telekinesis. Instead, he can directly influence their growth, accelerating the speed of their maturity and even controlling their size.

The first case of this ability being used is seen when Mob sprouted a small plant back in Reigen’s office. He employs it on a much larger scale, however, while fighting fellow esper Toshiki Minegishi, who was extremely adept at Chlorokinesis.

9 Spiritual Awareness & Astral Projection

astral projection

Since his introduction, Mob has always been capable of some form of Spiritual Awareness; the ability to detect the presence of psychic energy, spirits, and even other espers in a specific location. However, after finding his house on fire and what he believed to be his family charred beyond recognition, Mob could immediately spread his coverage to at least 20 kilometers, a feat that made Dimple wonder if he had just learned it on the fly.

When performing Astral Projection, Mob also showed astonishing learning speed. This ability helped him separate his spirit from his body, giving him access to the mind of a girl Keiji Mogami had possessed. It was noted to be an extremely difficult skill, but Mob pulled it off in a single try without any issues.

8 Psychic Energy Absorption

As an esper, Mob naturally has the power to manipulate psychic energy. A bonus feature, however, is that he has the added ability to harness psychic energy around him. In his strongest forms, he can absorb energy from his environment and even other power users.

When harnessing energy from his environment, he is able to absorb psychic attacks directed at him, leaving him unscathed as a result. While absorbing energy directly from other espers, however, he is also capable of sharing their emotions, allowing him to better understand his adversaries.

7 Psychic Energy Transference

Another special ability Mob has the power to temporarily transfer his powers, in various amounts, to other people. The individuals who receive this power are not limited to psychics alone. He is capable of relaying his psychic energy to regular humans as well. Furthermore, while transferred, they can serve a variety of different purposes.

Arguably the most notable use of this power was when he empowered his mentor, Arataka Reigen, in his fight against other powerful espers. Reigen was just a regular human, yet, after temporarily receiving Mob's powers, he became strong enough to overcome some of Claw's strongest fighters.

6 Boundless Psychic Energy Capacity

The ability to store psychic energy in large amounts is arguably one of Mob’s most useful attributes. It facilitates almost all of Mob’s most powerful abilities and gives him the power to unleash devastating amounts of power at crucial moments.

In his many battles against different espers, however, he is rarely ever pushed to the limit, meaning his large banks of energy are usually preserved. When he does go all out, though, the sheer destructive power he displays highlights just how vast his capacity for storing psychic energy is.

5 Telekinesis

mob using telekinesis

Like many other characters in the series, Mob is capable of telekinesis, the ability to move physical objects through the use of mental power alone. Unlike many other characters, however, Mob can use this ability with incredible power. Therefore, he is largely unrivaled in this respect, with Toichiro Suzuki serving as one of his only real challengers.

The feats he has achieved while using this power are extremely impressive and, in fact, too many to count. With his telekinetic powers alone, he has moved entire groups of people, large masses of land, and even whole skyscrapers. He also possesses great control over them, as shown when he reassembles the tiny pieces of paper torn from Emi’s manuscript.

4 100% Rage

100% rage

As implied by its name, this form is achieved when Mob experiences intense anger. It is also one of the first explosions Mob displayed, initially featured in his battle against Dimple while they were still enemies. For Mob to achieve this form, it means he has completely resolved to fight and is prepared to hurt his opponents despite his pacifist nature.

When used against Dimple, Mob was able to create an impenetrable barrier that damaged the Evil Spirit on impact. He was consequently able to decimate Dimple with just a single touch. However, in his fight against Toichiro, it was somewhat lacking as the latter could hold Mob off with only 10% of his power.

3 100% Ecstasy

100% ecstasy

While engaged in combat with Toichiro Suzuki, Mob cycled through multiple forms of 100% explosions, one of which was 100% Ecstasy. This form is peculiar in that it did not stem from Mob’s natural emotions, but from the feelings of Toichiro. Subconsciously using Psychic Energy Absorption, Mob was influenced by the thrill of battle his opponent was experiencing, giving him a crazed expression and, in turn, empowering his abilities.

Though still weaker than Toichiro in this form, it gave Mob slightly more power to keep up with the pace of the battle. A fact which is proven by the Claw leader deciding to unleash 50% of his power right after.

2 100% Courage

100% courage

In this state, Mob adopts a calmer demeanor while gaining significantly more power than he would in the 100% forms mentioned earlier. In addition, his facial features undergo a significant change, giving him a more distinct appearance with sparkling red eyes.

Using this form, he was able to stand up to Keiji Mogami—a man commonly referred to as “The Greatest Psychic of the 20th Century”—in his spirit world. He could also exchange blows with Toichiro Suzuki while the latter was at 100%, though the form was still not strong enough to overpower either opponent comprehensively.

This is by far Mob’s most powerful explosion to date, and not a single esper has been able to go against him in this form. Most times, its manifestation would require Mob to be rendered unconscious, after which he adopts a silhouette-like appearance with an intimidating aura. Furthermore, it is the only form where Mob can truly release every ounce of his psychic powers.

This form is so powerful that in the battle against Keiji Mogami, Mob was able to completely exorcize all the surrounding spirits in an instant, significantly weakening Mogami in the process. He was also able to absorb most of Toichiro Suzuki’s erratic psychic energy, feats that ultimately put him ahead of the most powerful espers in the series.
