Milla Jovovich Wants To Be in a ‘Resident Evil’ Game

Milla Jovovich Resident Evil Game

While the long-running Resident Evil video game franchise is the only video game series to have spawned a long-running and successful film franchise, one key differentiation between the adaptations and the source material is the star of the films: Alice, played by Milla Jovovich.

2012 marks the biggest year to date for the Resident Evil franchise, with Capcom having already released Resident Evil: Revelations for the 3DS and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, to be followed up Resident Evil 6 coming this fall, not long after the fifth film, Resident Evil: Retribution, hits theaters. With so many games releasing, Jovovich is sad that she hasn’t been able to be in one herself.

The core characters of the video games (Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, etc.) have only had minor supporting roles in the film series (Leon is being introduced this year in Retribution), whereas in the games they are the protagonists. Instead, the films focus on the character of Alice, who’s genetically altered thanks to the infamous T-virus granting her action star super powers.

Because of the focus on Alice in the films, they’ve only been loosely based on the games, with Resident Evil: Afterlife drawing the most inspiration from the games (after the success of Resident Evil 5) and introducing more characters from the canonical universe.

While one would think the abilities and combat prowess of Alice would lend herself as a great leading character for Resident Evil game, such a thing has not happened (yet) and this makes Milla Jovovich a sad panda.

“They use his set pieces from the movies in the games but for some reason, they don’t want to put my character, Alice, in the game… It’s a shame because I used to play the game with my little brother years ago and it would be so cool to be in one.”

I would have thought the set piece thing was the other way around, with the films using the designs from the games so we’ll see if that holds true when Resident Evil: Retribution this theaters in September. Witch each film in the series growing on the financial success of its predecessor, there could be many more Resident Evil movies on the way and eventually, it’s probably that Capcom will include Alice in one of the games.

Would you be interested in a Resident Evil game centered on a playable Alice character?

Resident Evil: Retribution hits theaters September 14, 2012 in 3D. Resident Evil 6 is slated for a November 20, 2012 release on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

  1. Alice is badass but I dont think they should put her in a game until they actually make one good enough, the latest resident evil is apparently awful.

As for her being the lead in the movies, awesome! I love her character, and I’m actually glad they didnt take the easy way out and have a male lead. Nobody could have pulled off such a great character but Milla, she is absolutely perfect for the role.

  2. Personally, I have no problem with the movies. Yes, they’re different from the games, but because they are I treat them as two seperate things. Having Alice in the game (as a main character) would be a terrible idea in my opinion. I love the series as is and because the movies are so different, it would be very hard to pull of successfully. That being said, I wouldn’t mind having her in a future game as a side character or something, just sort of a “tip of the hat” type deal. Introduce her in a way that doesn’t reveal much about her, and without her powers, or at least her not using them. Perhaps she could tag along for a bit and then get seperated or something.

  3. “They use his set pieces from the movies in the games but for some reason, they don’t want to put my character, Alice, in the game…”

This is the reason alice should not be in the games and why the movies need to end. Capcom using your husbands ideas? Wtf lady. The only reason she are in these crap movies is because she’s blowing the director.

  6. i have played the games all the way through and watched all the games and personally i would prefer Alice to be the main character as it would spice the games up as they have died over the years. if anything its about time to change the games to match the films, makes thing a lot more interesting!!!

  7. I would really like Alice in the game, maybe not as a playable character, but as a villain or a side character that helps the main character throughout the game. There’s nothing wrong if she’s in the game, it would actually help because she’s so badass. I don’t know why so many stubborn RE fanboys want the game to strictly be the way it used to be over-and-over with every game. I actually liked the direction in RE6; it felt refreshing and it had a solid story. It would also help ease the case of the disappointed/confused movie fans who buy the games just for Alice. I think they owe the movie franchise that much at least.
